To those who own black chrome, carbon fiber, or standard chrome altezzas: What is the best pick for a black maxima? Black chrome would logically seem to be the best look, but what about carbon fiber altezzas on a black maxima? Thanks in advance.

the black chrome ones look pretty nice actually

the carbon fiber are nasty because they have that light outline on the edges..

the regular ones are, well, the regular altezzas

 

I've already checked out the pics at custommaxima.com but people's personal statements with the tail lights always gives me more confidence. I had trouble seeing just how dark/shiny/tacky the black chrome altezzas were in comparison to the regular altezzas (yes I saw the side-by-side pics on custommaxima.com, but its still hard to tell), but from one pic I saw, the tinted glass looks sweet. If anyone has some pics of black chromes installed on their black maxima, then please post them. Thanks in advance.

im not a big fan of altezza's but if i was forced to get em i'd get black chrome hands down.

When I bought my first altezzas, the standard chrome version, I was disappointed with how them made my car look tacky and too flashy. I expected an appearance comparable to that of altezzas on lexus' (lexi?). After an accident ruined my attempt to paint the chrome altezzas black ala sexima's skyline-esk tails, I had a choice to make: buy and try to paint again the chrome altezzas; or get the black chrome altezzas. Clear tails arent enough of change for the money I'd pay and there isnt any way I'd buy another set of standard chrome altezzas without painting them first.

So today I pulled up behind a lexus. I saw the tails and recognized the black chrome altezzas. I love the look above all others that I've seen, but I am skeptical as to how the quality of maxima altezzas will compare to that of lexus altezzas.

I could care less what others think of my car...people said dont go with the underbody kit, i said screw that, i like it...people tell me to get a nice sound system, i say why would i do that when the bose system i have already satisfies my needs?...i agree with you madmax, be true to yourself when modding, but i needed some input on what these black chrome's look like because custommaxima's pics dont tell the whole story and with how disappointed i was with the standard chrome altezzas, i want to be sure that i am spending my money well by buying a quality set of black chrome altezzas.

I am in the same position as you. I have been looking for some other pics of the black chrome altezzas on somebody's black max, but the only ones i have found are the ones on custommaxima.com, and i want a couple more just to know for sure. But out of all three, I am really leaning towards getting the black chromes because on custommaxima, they looked pretty cool...also, where have you seen them other than custommaxima.com? i'm looking if there are any differences in the prices for the black chromes...and if you are able to obtain any more pics of them, please let me know, and i'll do the same...thanks

 

if i had to chose among the three - i would pick the black chrome ones.........but the maxima looks so much better w/o altezzas

 

The black ones actually look really nice on a black max. Nice enough in fact to make me consider switching from red/clears(slightly cracked ). Just my 2c

if i had to go with altezzas i would go with the black chrome ... but first i would try a 97+ conversion from a 96 and then if that failed i would get the black chromes altezzas as a last resort

 

thanks for posting everyone. Once i receive my set from custommaxima.com, i'll put some pics of the black chromes on my black maxima. Greg at cm.com was supposed to receive the altezzas on the 19th of April but I didnt hear anything yet. i'll start a new thread with pics of the black chromes on a 97-99 max on the day that i get them.

I saw the black chrome altezzas on a black max today and they looked completely different than the pics on custommaxima.com!!!! They had the light outline like the carbon fiber altezzas.. Red/clears look much better.. altezzas look too ricey on maximas..
