CD/MP3 Head Unit Recommendations?
CD/MP3 Head Unit Recommendations?
Hello all,
After trying the Aiwa CDC-MP3 for 3 weeks, I returned it to Crutchfield. Now, I'm trying to decide on a replacement. The mp3 playback is very important to me, b/c I've converted my 200+ CD's to mp3 format and like the "jukebox in a dash" idea. Here are a few I'm considering:
1) Pioneer Premier DEH-P740MP
2) Pioneer DEH-P7400MP
3) Alpine CDA-7894 (I have a 10yr old Alpine pullout CD player that still works PERFECT!)
4) JVC KD-SH707
5) Rockford Fosgate RFX-9000
6) Kenwood KDC-X859 (this one is a little pricey for me)
-I would prefer a black colored headunit with a volume **** instead of the push button. (JVC and Rockford are silver, so is Kenwood, but it's face is hidden when the radio is off)
Anyone with experience with any of these units (good or bad) please respond. Thanks,
-D

What happened to the "stealth look" for head units? All the units I listed above scream STEAL ME, when installed in a car. My old Alpine 7903s CD/Tuner deck has a very factory look with minimal pizazz.
Who needs fancy lighting, labels like "high power" and "MP3 functions" on the face of the head unit? I guess I'm just old fashioned when it comes to radio design.
BTW, thanks for the responses, more are welcome
