warranty
i took my 2k2 maxima se w/ 6spd in the other day to future nissan of roseville (near sacto, ca)to replace the cracked sunroof wind deflector and found out that the warranty for the thing is 12mos/12k mi only. And guess what? The warranty for that started on the vehicle's "in-service" date (nov 2001) and not the date that I purchased it which was in middle of january 2002. So does this mean that the powertrain and "bumper-to-bumper" warranties start on that date too. That would suck cause, there goes 2 months of my warranty lost by the vehicle being at the dealer lot. I thought warranties don't start till you buy the dang car. Also the deflector was an accessory so it only carries the 1yr/12k warranty, as they say... so does this mean the sunroof carries that too? Its listed as an optional accessory on the sticker...
other than that my maxima kicks ****... killed a 97'ish prelude last night while driving home kinda buzzed from club rage.

How many miles were on the odometer when you bought it? Maybe they slipped you a pre-owned or 2-month-old lease return. Do a title & registration search. Nissan customer service should know the exact purchase/delivery date and buyer's name.
The owner's manual states warranty begins on date of purchase or delivery to 1st buyer (or something close to that). Show the dealer your sales receipt and tell him to honor the warranty work. If that doesn't do it call the district Nissan rep and Nissan Cust Svc and complain. It reads like another chapter of How Dealers Avoid Warranty Work.
