Is it really MANDATORY that I change my shocks with my new H&R lowering springs? Right now, I have a 96 Max GLE with 70,000 miles on it. I only drive about 8,000 miles a year, it is all suburban driving, and no racing or "hard" driving. I don't really mind if the ride is not extremely firm or performs exceptionally well, I'm just looking to lower the ugly wheel gap. I don't mind either if the stock shocks only hold up for 20,000 or 30,000 more miles, that's perfectly fine. IS IT ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY that I change my shocks right now. I'm only going to keep this car for maybe 30,000 more miles, so I don't want to waste the money for $300 Tokicos, that some say are not much better than stock. Thanks guys.

with 70k miles on your stock shocks...

i HIGHLY doubt they will last another 30k miles when combined with lowering springs.
i'd invest the $240 for a set of Tokico's...
it will also ease installation and make it easier to put back to stock when you're ready.

If you lower the car, the stockers will die within like 1000 miles. Itll start floating up and down over things like hills.. my car did it. err still does it

Go with some KYB GR2. I think they are like $50 each.

The way I see it, it saves money to get both shocks and springs installed at the same time. The labor is IDENTICAL whether you get one or the other (or both) changed, so why pay twice. The stock shocks will eventually wear out and you will eventually have to get aftermarket shocks anyways, so why not just get it done now and forget about it.

Is it really worth it to save $300 TEMPORARILY until your stocks wear out, then pay an extra $200 plus the cost of shocks (which you are going to pay for anyways) later on?

They are not performance oriented. They are just stock replacement made by KYB.
