Dumb question.. How do i take off covering from the under of the trunk lid?
Its held on by all those grey plugs, and i dont know whether you just pull em off because theyre on pretty tight, and i dont want to snap any crap off, and i want to get to the trunk light switch. Is just popping em off the way to go? thanks.
yup they pull off. they are prob pretty tight. good idea to get a few new ones on standby just in case they break.

yup.. just pop those tabs loose..
are you sure the trunk light switch is youru problem?
I take it you're the one with the trunk that doesn't light?
check the voltage at the light socket itself and see if you're getting voltage there.. also make sure you're getting voltage at the fuse under the dash..
I'd do that before spending 30 min pulling the trunk lid liner thingy out. (it'll take at least that long, and your fingers will hurt like !@)#(!@)#( afterwards!)

that's IF you can get the tool to work on them.. these tabe are tiny and the pullers don't work too well on them.
I've ruined about 10 of those suckers trying to remove them with a door panel tool.. ended up buying a whole bag of new ones and just pried the rest out with a large screwdriver and needlenose pliers.

haha thanks, yea i can check the fuse, if i knew which one to check... Why check the socket for voltage, if it had voltage, wouldnt the light go on? Ill check it anyways though, my dad has a multimeter, then ill waste my time pulling those things off, mauybe its easier for me if i just cut a hole in it, haha
Well, on my trunk light, the bulb will stay in the socket but it won't light.. it still gets the 12V it needs, but the contacts on the bulb don't connect.
of course, mine is because the subs rattle the bejeezus out of the trunk, but still... the problem is one in the same.
it's really easy to spend 30 seconds and stick a meter in the socket and check the voltage BEFORE you spend 45 minutes tearing apart the trunklid and getting to the switch..
is the thing even in the trunklid? I don't even know where it is, but you'd think it would be somewhere else.. I dunno for sure on that one though.

hmm DAMMIT, well i took some of the cover off to get to the switch, and i tinker around with it, (i dont have my multimeter) and so i connect the 2 wires together (red and black i think they are) and nothing happens, no light or anything.. I dont know what it could be because it was just like closing the switch.... i also tried looking for the wires that lead off from the actuall socket, and i cant find them! i cannot see where they come out from underneath the rear deck... also i cant see the third brake light wire either. hmmm, what do you suppose i do? i wanna check the fuse but i dont know which one, anyone know? and the security light doesnt flash either when the trunk is open like ive heard it should... so guys please help! its petty but its damn annoying! thanks
Brandon
BTW..i used a flat head screwdriver to pry the plugs off, worked great! came off easy and didnt even break one!
