Do you guys know how i can get rid of some foggy subtance all over my headlights? I'm not sure if its inside the headlight or not. But pretty sure its outside? Anyone have a solution?

I used Maguires Bug and Tar remover the other day.....but it didn't take care of all of it.... I'd be interested to see if there is a real way to get that crap off.......

I went to auto store and they told me that the bug/tar remover is for PAINT or BODY of car only. NOT PLASTIC. Someone suggested that there was some kind of wax for plastic items?????

If its trully on the outside and not pits from road dirt, you can use Waxshop's Safecut. Its a plastic and plexiglass cleaner. It works extremely well, and I used it on my Amp Rack also to remove scratches. Its a light abrasive.....makes rear tail lights look new again also.

Use 3M Plastic Polish. Works like a dream. Makes plastic crystal clear. I use it on my gauge cluster and license plate covers. The local NAPA and Pep Boys carry it.

I've used the 3m stuff also.....works great as a final coat or quick polish. The safecut has a little better abrasive material and works better at removing scratches and dirt. Just my opinion......

Yeah that fog stuff really bites I have some nice Raybrig 5000K HID and because of the stinking fog they look well FOGGY!!!!!!! Anyway I hope this is on the outside so I can eliminate it with some of that plastic cleaner. If not the dealer should replace my housing if it is condensation.

I heard that paint thinner works really well, just be careful not to get it on your paint. I'd take out the headlight first. Have yet to try it though...

Other alternatives

a) Meguiar's Plastic Cleaner and Polish
Meguiar's makes a 2 step process for cleaning plastic that is also very effective.

b) Plexus Plastic Cleaner and Protectant
This is one of the best items on the market today for cleaning plastic windows.

c) (Actually what I used on mine) Klasse All In One.
Yes, it is a cleaner for paint but many folks also use it to polish the plastic and it does not leave any type of haze.

have you tried the cleaners yet?? if not you should, it might appear to be on the inside and it's probably on the outside.

well, I have used them all too..

and Safecut or Blue Magic or 3m will work great, but one thing you havent mentioned is to get your headlights as clean as you can. After they dry, wipe them off again if any pollen has collected. Use a very soft cotton cloth or microfiber.. This stuff is mildly abrasive and while the results are fantastic (they will look new), if you arent carefull about the towels you use, you can get fine scratches. Not scratches you can see if you stand back, but small ones nonetheless. I mean, if you are **** enough to polish your lights like me, you will also notice tiny microscopic scratches and get upset about it Just use light pressure and a soft cloth, you will like what you see and there shouldnt be any scratches (that werent there before from washing the car)

I also have the fogging headlights on my 2K2. The fog is on the inside of the lense. I'm getting the headlights replaced by the dealer under warranty.

Anybody have before and after pics? Or at least the after? I have always wondered if something was available to remove the haze from the headlight.

I didn't take a pic, but it was the best $3.50 I ever spent. they look brand new. And the Blue Magic did the trick big time.... I could eat off my headlights.

if after you make sure it's not on the outside, i'd head to the dealer and let them know. see what they say, you don't really have much to lose, but a bit of your time.

Mine were ordered and replace two days ago under warranty. No hassle from the dealer, they just did it.

that film inside the headlight on a 2k2 is some kind of protector film that prevents the HID beams from melting the plastic headlight.
I was told this by the dealer.

I noticed my headlights are foggy too. I've had the 3M plastic polish sitting in my basement for like 2 years and i've hardly ever used it. I'll try it tomorrow. Thanks guys!
