Should I get TINT ??
I almost went today to get 20% for the back 3 windows and 35% for the front pass and Drivers side...What do you think ?? I was all ready to go and talked myself out of it, so i called the guy and told him ill call him at the end of the month..its $189 for all around. I really want it for Summer = HOT = Tint = not as hot

I have 15% in the back and 28% in the front, and I hate it. It's too LIGHT. 20/35 is gonna be a total waste for you.
From the time I get to school and the time I get out, my car is hotter than a sauna, so your % tint will do nothing.
Get at LEAST 15% all around, I'm gonna get 5% all around one of these days.

Well firstly, what color is your car? Mine is black so that's partially why it bakes in the sun. If you have a white car than it's gonna be alot cooler. If you have a darker color car, you need darker tint.
A white max with 15% all around should be noticably cooler than no tint, but a black car that attracts soo much more heat would be alot hotter, and IMHO requires darker tint. Also if you have a darker interior would make a difference...mine is the cheap tan cloth so it helps some.
how hard is it to see at night with say 15% tint on all the rear windows?
i was thinking of doing 15% all the way around (except front) but I'm too scared to think of how hard it will be to drive at night.
what about 5% for the rears and 15% for the driver/passenger fronts?

I have 35% tint and 20% on the rear window with black on black leather. It's still hot but not near as hot as it was without the tint. I'd recommend going 20% all around so its dark but the cops won't give you any trouble.
i think mirror would be the best defense against the sun's heat. complete with one of those windshield reflectors, the car would remain cool. i got 20% charcoal metallized all around, but i dont notice much of a differnece in the interior cabin heat compared to no tints. maybe just because my car is black...

Those of you that live in states where tinting in the front windows is legal are lucky. Here in Jersey 50 likes to harass people that have tint even just in the back (same w/ mirror tint anywhere on your vehicle). Once one of them even tried to convince me that my fronts were tinted even though I left them clear, knowing it was illegal here. He stood there, shining a flash light through it while I was arguing with him because he couldn't find anything else to ticket for (one of those "stopped you because I'm ****ed that I ran out of donuts" cases, no speeding no nothing). He finally settled on a $44 illegal lighting offense because I had hyper whites (the good white kind, not the cheap blue kind), and because some shards of blue glass from my old cheap ones exploded in there (I learned my lesson the first time). He had to ask his partner (rhetorically) if they looked blue to him and even he couldn't agree that they weren't white. This is just an idea of what some other people in the more unfortunate states have to deal with. And btw, this is when I had stock exhaust and tail lights (still orange), but with 18" alloy TSWs, lowered (but not slammed) suspension, and diamond clears (orange bulbs). Man I'm asian, but do I look rice to you pig?? Cops like that make the good ones look bad (which in these neighborhoods are few and far between). Fortunately, I recently heard that they passed an amendment that said it was legal with prescription. Any opticians on this board from Jersey?
matty,
You have a Deep Evergreen Maxima, correct? You're also in NJ right? Personally, I say go for it. I purchased my car with the tint already on it. It's 20% tint and I love it. I think tint changes the whole appearance of someones car. I'm very happy with my 20% tint. I've had it for a year and haven't had one problem with the police (the tint is illegal on the front windows). The biggest problem is getting it passed for inspection. It took me forever to find a shop to do it, and when I finally did, I had to pay $85. This is why I'm going to be getting rid of the car before I have to do inspection again. I don't want to deal with the hassle. I'm also gonna move over to PA when I move out because the tint is legal there. Stupid NJ and their stupid laws!
I say go for it, but wait until you get inspection so you don't have to worry about it for two years.

-Nick
