Just race a v6 Accord and a Mustang at the same time.
Just race a v6 Accord and a Mustang at the same time.
Its 2am here in cali and the adrenaline wont let me go to bed yet.
So, I'm on the freeway when an accord blows by me at about 110. I catch up and get him out of the carpool, and we did a few runs from 100. Then it turned into and all out, who-can-maintain-the-highest-speed race. My S-03s allowed me to maintain a constant 130 and he just couldn't keep up.
I slow it down to 110 and wait. Next thing I know, there are two sets of headlight flying after me. The accord comes up on the left and a mustang comes up on the right. We all take off and raced at 120+ for about 10 more minutes (there was traffic, but just a little). I dominated them both all the way thanks to my tires (i drive a 2k gle auto, by the way, so it was a somewhat even match). This was the funnest race I've had in a long a$s time!
Good kill?

Thanks to your tires? lol, tires do not stop you from going high speeds, you can push any tire at what speed you want, but who knows when it might actually blow. :P

And yes, an auto Max can take the pre-99 GT's on the highway. Mod yourself a little and you can take them off the line as well.
Re: Re: Re: Just race a v6 Accord and a Mustang at the same time.
For the first time since I got my car fixed (it is still stock), I had the opportunity to run a mustang.
Only a new v6 but what the heck.
He initiates by riding my tail when there was a slower car in front of me. So, as soon as the car pulls over - I down shift from 4th to 2nd (we were going about 40) and let it rip. Just walked away from him. By the time I hit 4th, I had at least 3-4 cars.
I let him catch up and as he tries to pass me at about 80, I drop to 3rd and again nail it - but this time I looked over at him and I can see the WTF look as I begin to walk away.
Finally, I just let him go - for him only to get caught in traffic. Traffic clears and I watch him belch black smoke as he shifts . . . running rich so likely powershifting. So, I figured why not catch him - I did then let him go after he looked up in his rearview.
I usually don't even post such trivia - but I wouldn't have raced him the past 3-4 months!

I think it was a 97 GT. We were probably all autos.
When I say thanks to my tires, I'm speaking of turning capabilities at high speeds. Taking freeway turns in traffic at 130 is scary as hell on the stock tires, but it is easy as can be on the S-03s. (I have a f*cking limiter by the way, so that explains why I never went faster).
It was not a matter of who's car had the faster engine, it was a matter of who could hit the turns and weave through cars faster. We would all be about even until a big s-turn would come and I would keep my 130 and they would have to slow down to make it through safely.
I almost never post my kills, but this was just too good. I gained about 10 car lengths in the turns the first time we all went for it, then I slowed down, let them pass, and counted to 5. Then I caught up and took my 10 lengths back. It's all about the S-03s baby!

I'm not flaming, I just don't see how new tires can make the difference, so that you KNOW you can take the corner at higher speeds. At lower speeds, say sub 50mph, you can hear the screetching and feel the slide, but DAMN if you do that at 130mph it's all over.
If the S-03s are all that, then hell that's going to make my choice for my next tires a lot simpler.

), and extensively tested these tires. I have a lifetime alignment so I just hit hard turns, skid, test braking, etc... and take my car in the next day. I've also raced on the freeway A LOT with these tires. I can asure you it makes a huge difference. Where are the S-03 owners here? Speak up! I can tell when my car is going to loose it. The stock tires are flimsy, all season, pieces of crap when it comes to hard freeway racing. The Protenza S-03 Pole Position tires are maximum performance, summer, WR rated, 168 mph, stiff, directional tires.
I've been raving about these things ever since I bought my first set. My only gripe is that the wear out fast. I guess thats why more people don't have them. Check out the test results on tirerack.com. The S-03s outperformed the michlin pilot sports and the pirelli p-zeros. S-03 owners where are you?

Thanks. I've always happened to sell my car with the original tires that came on it, so I've really never had a chance to do a before/after.
I still have a few miles left on the POS Potenzas, but I'll keep the S-03s in mind when I change them. However, I'm kinda disgusted with the Potenzas noise factor, so I'll probably try the Michellins first.

Sorry to change the subject, but, being that I used to own a 2K GT... I have to intervene
Anyone with a 2K2 SE 6spd should be able to hang with a 99+ GT 5 spd and beat any previous year (auto or 5spd) from a stop. This is of course assuming everything is stock and assuming you can speed shift at correct RPMs. My SE accelerates just about as fast as my GT did from a standstill, and it certainly accelerates faster at highway speeds. I am taking into account the better weight distribution and smoother engine in my Max plus the better drag coefficient. Some tend to confuse fast acceleration with the feel of the car leaning back when stomping the gas and loud engine sound
Since some are really interested in stories... I only have one as of yet. 70mph on interstate, '95 Cobra rolls up in next lane. I hear him stomp it (and his front end raise up). I quickly downshift to 4th and do the same. Even though it was not a huge difference, I kept pulling away from him from the moment we took off. By the time we hit 120, I was about 3-4 car lenths in front. Ahh, victory feels good... and looking at the confused face of the other driver. "A sedan just beat my stang???"
Anyway, just some food for thought.

I got my a$s handed to me when we draged from 80. Whats in those things anyway? A big a$s v8 or what?

I don't think I heard an apology for you unnessesary flaming.
(j/k, i dont care)
$200 for tires
That $200 for the Michelins which are listed on TireRack (They looks like the best bet for my car). Which is why I'm sticking with the pretenderz.
At least until they are worn out or I die in the rain!
P.S. Sorry for the flame, was not intended.

. Look at it this way, at least you have a comfortable ride and can seat 4 without any complaints.
V6 Accord
my friend and i were talking about this tonight as we were following another friend of ours who has a 1999 Accord V6. me and my friend nick were talking about how much HP the Accord has but neither of us had a clue. i have diven the Accord and raced it in my 96 maxima and it feels almost the same so my guess was around 190...200 at the absolute most. anyone know the true answer?
