I just bought a 94 MAXIMA GXE for my daughter. She loves the car. I am in the process of giving it a tune up. I got to the spark plugs and realized the things are sunk deep into the engine. What is the trick to change the plugs. I am sure I will need some special tool to get them out. The engine is a SOHC if that makes a difference. Thanks

just get a good plug socket with the rubber piece in it. I had to replace the plugs in my car and they were seized in! After about half a can of wd40 and two hours i got them out just be careful not to break them

 

Not every mechanic out there takes the time to put in anti-seize lubricant on the threads.

I guess that is why I try to do as much work as I can myself.

 

Ask the people at your local parts store. They will guide you to a 5/8 spark plug socket with a rubber insert or an antenna looking magnet.

 

Yes, and use a piece of hose connected to the tip of the plug when installing the new ones. Make sure not to tighten them too tight, and use anti-seize. Don't forget to gap them also.
