if you raise your butt off the seat it will make the car lighter, therefore faster.

Flash the TC at 1500 and take off... that worked the best for me when I was NA. Try anywhere between 1500 to 2000 (2k worked well for others).

kloog... if you can get more than 1 run try manually shifting at first, on the second run just keep it in 3. (It will still redline, just don't bog down with the throttle halfway or it'll shift prematurely)

Re: Racing a 2K2 Auto,,,Suggestions..

I'm going to the track as well this weekend.

Post your times so we can compare. This will be my first, so I'm hoping low 15s or high 14s (more for the high 14s )

I've just got the berk intake and got the franken mide-pipe on order, mabe I'll take it back to the track after I get the mide-pipe to see if there's any difference.

If you want "real" times leave it as you drive every day. To milk the MAX (pun intended! ) from it drop the tire pressure in the frt to about 22/24psi raise the rear press to about 42psi have about 1/4 to 3/8 tank of 93 octane, pray for about 45/55 degrees and plenty of bite. Trac off (of course!) come to about 1200/1500 rpm (brake torque) when you see the yellows (stage "deep") and when you see the LAST yellow let go and punch it! Let it shift and listen to roar of your Franken till you hit the traps! You can try and shift yerself @ about 6250 rpm but I really saw no gain other than I "felt" in control. My best time was .3 better than my worst. I get a bigger rush of beating everyone off the line (outta 29 passes got beat at the "tree" only 3 times with only 1 redlight), you'll actually see them move 2nd. Good luck bud, I hope you hit 14 !

good advice SS

I've only tq. braked once and it got me a better 60' time but (like an idiot) I slowed down before the end of the 1/4 so I can't tell how much of a difference it makes--everytime my times were in the 15s it was b/c I didn't give it enough gas on the launch, you just have to go as many times as you can to get used to the traction issues

SS has got the idea, except for one thing. You'll want to stage shallow rather than deep. Deep staging is where you creep through the first set of staging lights (pre-stage), then creep to the second set (staged) until the pre-stage lights go out. This gets you a terrific reaction time. If you shallow stage, you creep until the "staged" lights just come on (so both sets of lights are on). This actually gets you a running start out of the gate. Remember, the timing starts when the beam is completed, after being broken by your wheels during staging, and ends when you trip the lights at the other end.

I suggest launching just above the torque converters stall speed, probably around 1800 rpm. Hammer it down just enough to get some wheelspin, but make sure you have more traction than spin (you knew that!). That is something you'll just get the feel for.

One other thing. Make sure you keep it on the mat until you pass the second set of lights at the end. There are 2 sets of lights; one for the ET, one for the MPH. Look for the 2 yellow lines with a big "x" in the middle. Kind of like this (I hope this works):
_
X

And YES, leave on the last yellow. By the time your body processes it, and everything starts to move, the light will be green. You will see RT's around .600-.750 on average. That's usually why every other track rookie gets RT's over 1 second.

Good luck.

I highly suggest rolling (agressively easing)into the gas instead of mashing
mashing = wheel spin = go nowhere

I guess that will depend on Track conditions... I can expect it to be in the 80's here for the weekend, which are temperatures I dont like for racing...
