Well everyone, I finally got out of school yesterday, came back home this morning, and went to the track first thing tonight. It was my first run since I installed the berk intake. Horrible night to go to gateway in St. louie, apparently there's some mustang weekend coming up, so EVERYBODY was there to test and tune their cars. so, i paid $15 for one run. sucks, eh? anyway, on to the results.... I had a horrid launch, tires were at 24, i brake torqued instead of flashing the TC, and i spun for about half a second. After that, everything was gravy. now, i'm gonna show you a comparison of my best et and tonights run, the one on the left is me stock (best), and on the right is tonight

Now, as you can see, the berk certainly increased my power - just look at the MPH - but what puzzles me is that my trap is so high for 2k1 auto. With the car weighing about 3450-3500 pounds with me in, i checked some of the online calculators and what not (prestage.com is awesome), i should be running a 15.1 if i'm getting 90mph traps. is my traction and launch really that bad? and what also seems fishy, using more of the caulculators, the 90mph trap runs to about 195hp to the wheels. that doesn't sound right either since i'm an automatic with only intake. thats about 15hp too high... i'm just confused and very tired, if someone could help me out here. sorry for being so long.

To flash the torque converter you brake torque like you normally would only now you hold the engine several hundred RPM short of the maximum stall speed. Then you launch like usual and the engine will jump up to max stall on the converter only now since the engine has extra inertia from accelerating it's possible to "flash" the TC and get it up to a slightly higher than normal stall speed and give you a little better launch.
For example, stall speed on my Accord V6 was around 2100rpm. To setup for launch you'd brake torque to about 1500-1800rpm or so and then mash it on the launch and you'd end up at about 2400rpm or so.
If you just hold the engine at the maximum stall speed then when you launch the engine has no extra rotational inertia to push past the stall speed that it's already at, so flashing the TC should give you a bit better launch.

i ran a 15.4 @ 90 w/ a 2.4X 60' time. i need to improve my launch, i know...but what would my time be if i was able to get a 2.3, 2.2, and 2.1 60'?

yep, that's all i could do w/ a bad launch. do'nt have the timeslip on me but i think it was a mid 2.4 time. i would think i could get a 15.3 or so if i went down to 2.3. i was in the high 90's for trap

I know I suck but I am just curious. Also what would be the stall speed of a 2000 Max (auto). And how is the 5-speed of yours.
alright, went back to the track last night and improved significantly. my 60' time dropped to 2.32, 1/4 in 15.19 @ 92.21!
