I am retiring from the world of mods

After my lengthy two week tenure on Maxima.org and a couple of thousand dollars later, I hereby tender my resignation from adding stuff to my car. I have spent innumerable hours these past two weeks getting my car to where it is now and would like to say that I have no more mods that I want, need, and most importantly....can afford.

My girlfriend now hates my car. A few of my coworkers have written me off as a "punk lowrider gangster". And my parents refuse to let me drive down their street with "all of that ******* noise". But I am content.

I'll still be around in the forums.....but the only mods I will be making are with a clay bar, some blue ultra soft towels from Wal Mart, and my good friends- The Maguires........

Come on Bro.. My wife has hated every mod, except for the Dash Kit. She was the same one I was dating in my 89 5.0 and she is the one that told me to buy the WS6 Ram Air Trans am !.. now she goes OLD GOAT on me, she doesnt want to go to the SPA with a car with dual 4" tips on it.. if thats the case, SHE can go buy another car ! Be yourself. The Old Goats might hate you, but their 18 year old daughter DIGS you, and she has an even bigger A$$ !

To reiterate.....I am not quitting modding only because of my girlfriend.

1. Girlfriend
2. Coworkers/Clients
3. Out of money
4. Out of stuff to do (MAYYYBE a new ebrake handle)
5. TOO LOUD!

I honestly think I am out of stuff to do. I don't like dash kits or ground fx. I don't want to start tearing out my pulleys, etc. Doesn't my car look "complete" right now? Honestly? I'm actually starting to regret the red caliper paint....I feel like a ricer.

The car looks tight. Who cares what they think as long as you like it. They are not driving it.

Yeah, I was just wondering what that was ... that and 'Momo Action ****' sounds kinda funny. I'd ask to see a picture of your ****, but that might not be appropriate. I'm easily amused this morning ...

By the way, your car is PERFECT. You did all that stuff for yourself, anyway, right? Those rims are sweet. They look even nicer than your previous rims (which WERE 19's, correct?). Glad the paint came off.

I hear you ....

I gave up modding about 5 years ago. Had the first 95 5-sp in Louisvile, KY. Did the rims, ground effects, lowered it, ECU, Exhaust, intake, system, lights, cross drilled rotors ...

For a single hobby tuner modding is cool (I still miss it). But, on the other hand, the amount of time (time is money) and money spent, I could have bought a car with all these qualities, and re-cooped on resale value. Also, image is an issue, it shouldn't be, but people still kill and hate (soap box).

Anyway, if I mod again it will be low key. Most likely, I will buy a car that has the HP and style that I want out of the box. GS400/430 540, G35c, Z ...

Also, the older you get the less likely you will be racing (really using the mods) kinda funny being a professional who has to tell boss and clients "I cann't drive, I loss my license racing this little punk in his new Accord (Civic, Mustang, ...) I had him by 3 car lengths"

Good luck fighting the fever!!!!!!

One view from the other side . . .

With age, you probably will give up the really stupid exhibitions of street racing and the top end runs and save that for off-street sanctioned competition (NHRA, SCCA, etc.), sanctioned high-speed road running (a la the Silver State closed road events) or on-track high performance road course running. But you won't necessarily quit doing the couple of gears away from the light or the on-ramp runs. And after the kids are at least in their mid teens you may well go back to doing (more) mods. With any luck, you'll do the mods smarter instead of over.

Andy,

Hey man, sit back, and be proud of your car. If it's done to you, then just enjoy it and don't always worry about that next part. IMO you've put together one of the nicer cars on this board. But don't drop out of sight now! Peace brother!

I could kill emax for reviving this thread. Check the date guys. It's like 6 months old.

Since this post, I have added the following:
UDP
18" RH Evos
KYB AGX's
Progress Springs
Pacesetter STS
Random Technology Cat
FSTB
Put stock muffler back on
Black calipers
Added engine loom
Removed engine loom
New momo ****
Escort Passport 8500

I am not retiring. Although my wallet will be soon forcing me to.

And yes, I'm getting married on December 21.
