Rewiring FogLamps on 2K2

First of all I know there are at least 40 posts out there on this,
but bear with me a minute (or more - sorry for the long post).

The instructions and links that have been posted may work well for 5th gens up to 2K2.
The 2K2 wiring appears to be different (color-wise).
There t'aint no yellow wire in the relay.

there are 4 wires in the relay (viewing from the underneath where the wires are found - the topmost left hand side relay - fog lamps) starting with the top wire and moving clockwise - there is silver painted little stripes on each of the wires.

Green/Orange
Black/Orange
Blue
Orange

I tested the four wires under the different conditions to see which had 12V and found:

Orange w/Silver stripes
Headlamps Off: Y
HeadLamps On: Y
FogLamps On (w/Headlamps On): Y
Green/Orange w/Silver stripes
Headlamps Off: N
HeadLamps On: Y
FogLamps On (w/Headlamps On): N
Blue w/Silver stripes
Headlamps Off: N
HeadLamps On: Y
FogLamps On (w/Headlamps On): Y
Black/Orange w/Silver stripes
Headlamps Off: N
HeadLamps On: N
FogLamps On (w/Headlamps On): Y

So, I figure it has to be the Green/Orange or the Blue?

Any ideas? (Sounds like a bad movie with a ticking bomb).

Thanks for your time.

It's the Blue wire!

With some assistance from Russell at
http\\:www.5thgenmaximas.com .
He hadn't seen this either but came up with a likely answer fast.
He may update his how to page accordingly.

So..... if you are rewiring the fog lamps on a 2K2 Maxima - it's the blue wire!

For the Max in me, I couldn't find any mention of the difference in the 2K2 (and I went through a load of posts).
I'm new to the group (although I've had a '90, '96 and now a 2K2).
Didn't know this existed. Man, this site could have saved me some time over the years (at least since it started).

Thanks for replying.

No problemo. If you need any more wiring info for any model Max check out the NissanX Gallery (Vehicle Wiring Info's)

Newbie question

I know this might sound like a stupid question but type of mod are you doing to your fog lights? Are you making it so that when you turn on your parking lights you can also turn on your fog lights? Or are you doing the mod so you can just run the fog lights independently?
Thanks in adv.

Re: Newbie question

You can do it either way.
If you want to wire the Fog Lights so you can have them on all the time, you wire them to a 12v unswitched source (not needing a turn of the ignition or anything). If you just want it so you can have them on with running lights and not have to have the headlights on (as it is when it comes from the factory), you can wire it to a 12v switched supply tied to the running lights. I did mine to the front right side marker (Drivers perspective). There is a rewire mod to make the side markers flash when you turn as well and if I intended to do that I would need to choose the corner light as a source instead. I don't intend to do that mod however.

Hope this helps.
