i did a self diagnostic on my 95 maxima gle and came up with an error code 0707 which is Rear Heated O2 sensor. What the hell is that and how do i fix it ! Plz help .... man .. my max .... is making me dish out a lot of mollas in the last couple of weeks .. first the mouse eating the coil and injector wires, then the shot brakes and now this ,,,,, and i thought max were far more reliable and durable than the hondas

 

If you crawl under the car right between the driver and rear door, look at the cat, and you will see the rear O2 sensor right behind it going towards the back of the car. It is very simple to install. It's plug and play. As for reliability; If mice chew on honda wires, they'll cause problems too. Brakes are part of regular maintainance and once again I assure you Honda brakes go bad too.

cahnces are you dont have to replace the part. Just clean the soot off of the sensor. use an alcohol wipe or put some alcohol on a rag and wipe it down real good. allow it to dry and put back into your car.

 

If only I knew that I could do that before I spent $145 on a new one. It kind of worked out anyway when I couldn't remove the old one to put it in my Greddy so I had to get a new one since the bolt was stripped.

 

I got code 0707 a couple of days ago. I reset my ecu and everything has been fine since. Chances are that it was just a brief problem, but enough to set off the MIL, reset the ecu and see if the MIL comes back on in the next 100 miles or so. If it does you probably need a new O2 sensor, if it doesn't you're home free.

 

should you clean out your O2 sensors as described above regularly?

 

I dont think its necessary, that is something I did to try and be thrifty. It worked when I did it, and when I pulled the O2 sensor last weekend when swapping out the exhaust it was still clean after 7k miles. I would suggest to anyone now to just clean the tip off before spending 100 bucks on a new one. Unless you bust the plastic clips where it attaches to the underside of your car.

thanx guys .. i keep throwing the code on a frequent basis ! like every month or something .. but i dont need to worry . just need to turn the ecu clock wise and counter clock wise twice and the check engine light vanishes .. its so easy !
