Never, trading a car less than 2 years old in never makes financial sense. If you were thinking of getting a 2K2 I would say sell your 2K1 on the open market, a Dealer will only screw you. I would think that with the 2K3's rollong out soon, you should be able to get a nice deal on a 2K2 in a couple of months.

Add it up!
Besides, if you did trade you'd probably kick yourself for not waiting to see what the 2004 is all about. Wait, 'til the '04 comes out and if you don't like it there will be killer deals on '03s which are sure to a have a few more bells and whistles than the '02s and then you can trade in your (much more paid off) '01!
'Oh yeah!

Later....
Since 2k2 cars are going for just about invoice these days you really couldn't expect to get much on a trade value. Edmunds.com says about $15k average trade for a 2k1 SE (priced without options, etc). Subtract what you still owe on the car to get what you'll actually net on the deal.
Best advice I've seen here is to keep paying on it and driveing it till the 2k4's hit the showroom floors and if you don't like what you see you can still get a brand new 2k3 for a damn good price.
