Can anyone give me a rough estimate on the price for a transmission change from automatic to a manual and where to do it (in the bay area). I'm expecting a computer replacement. Has anyone herd of such procedure? Or is this just ridiculous? I'm thankful for any feedback...

There's one guy who hangs here sometimes who goes by Gunghoe9 that did a tranny swap. IMHO, I think that it would be easier and more cost effective to just sell the auto and buy a 5spd.

i also agree with jjw95sc

it's cheaper and better that way, but as far as the swap, most shops that do transmissions will take on the job. it's around a 5 hr job, parts and all gonna run a whole lot. and you gotta swap out your center console so you can fit the stick or grind the sides of the auto console (the hole wehre the shifter is) and u gotta get a shift linkage, while ur at it might as well get a short shifter.

Well

from what i know, your gonna need alot of parts

Tranny
ECU
Engine wiring harness
shift linkage
clutch master cylinder
pedal assembly
maybe one motor mount also

Not sure of shops in the bay area that will do it. im in the bay area and my friends and i are planning to do it soon. We'll see how long and hard it takes. We can do a sidejob for your car if you really want it done....Lemme know Later
