On my '97 GLE I had to remove the needles...

I put white gauge faces in my gauge and I had to take off the needles and recalibrate them.

Not too hard after you do it once, the first time my needles were not working properly so I had to adjust them.

Hope that helps!

How did you get the clear plastic cover off? I've found all of the tabs release, except for the upper left and right corners. They're stuck in tight. I don't want to break anything... how'd you get them out safely?

its all tabs just make sure you get all of them, get them to release one at a time and when all of them have released, then pull the cover off.

I figured it out. You see the problem, is that the upper left and right corner tabs have NO ROOM to flex, unlike the others. They are flush against the white plastic housing. I discovered that if I undo the two BLACK tabs for the black gauge face cover that are next to them, I can move the tabs far enough forward to finally flex them. Then they slide out. I had to use two pry tools, one to hold the black cover out, the other to get the tabs down. It worked!

This was TOUGH TO DO. I'm surprised no one mentioned it in the process. "Just release the tabs and the plastic cover comes off" is what I've seen in all the postings about it. Oh yeah, right. Nope, it ain't that easy. At least the method I came up with worked like a charm and nothing broke. Maybe this is only particular to the 95-96 models?
