Y-pipe for 1992 Maxima SE

After loaning my car to my son, I now have an exhaust leak (a tree stump "magically appeared" in front of him and he bounced the exhaust system off it). What is broken is the flex pipe. The rest looks okay. My question is what is the best course of action:
1) get my mechanic to just weld in a new flex pipe (any idea where to get one?)
2) get Nissan to install a whole new Y-pipe assembly
3) buy a whole new Y-pipe from Cattman or Stillen and have my mechanic install it (in the "old" days I would have done it myself, but right now I do not have the time).
4) go to Midas and have them fix it (my wife's idea)
5) other ???

All opinions and recommendations appreciated.
Thanks
Jack

I agree they also sell the good flex section if you decide to go that way.

Never go to Nissan for a new Y pipe. They will rape you without lubrication. Go to www.warpspeedperformance.com I am sure you can get a pipe from them, for waaay less than Nissan, or anywhere else. Plus it will add power to your car. What more can you ask for?

Nissan's design of the y-pipe was so restictive that if you buy a new one from them it is redesigned and you have to buy new heat shields.

I agree with all the others in this thread, go with warpspeed Performance as their pricing is great, Dallas Ziegler (the owner) is top knotch and excellent to deal with, and the parts they use are top grade!

Before knowing about this site and before I even thought about modding my car, my exhaust was also falling to shreds. I went to midas and a day and a half later, and $1500 poorer I got to drive my car away. Yeah, lots of labor after they found 2 of the bolts that hold the exhaust to the manifold were snapped off. I'm now looking at Warpspeed and realizing I could have definately gotten something way better than stock for probably a heck of a lot cheaper. Go for the WarpSpeed man. As soon as I get paid, I'll have my order in for a WarpSpeed CAI!

Ouch man. For that amount of money you could have had a Warpspeed Y, Greddy Catback, and Carsound cat, and all of the exhuast studs changed.
