I have a crappy a** aftermarket clutch, that I will switching out for an ACT in the next week, and I can bearly chirp 2nd and If I really try I CAN'T even do it everytime and when I do it get it, its not loud...My buddy has a 95 with 100K on an original clutch and he can bark 2nd like a mother any and every time he wants...is it just my clutch or no ?? my 17"s ?? I had him drive it and he couldnt chirp mine at all..

i'm gonna say it's your clutch. i have a act on my 96 5 spd. with *very heavy* 18" chrome rims i can bark 2nd loud and chirp into 3rd. when i put my light 15's on forget it, i can spin second and hit 3rd and probably 4th - haven't tried too hard yet.

act all the way baby

I've got an engine-wise stock 98 SE 5spd that would chirp 2nd easy with cheesy tires. It really depends on the rubber. On my new rubber, BFG G-force KDW's, even 1st requires a healthy dump....

Not chirping 2nd is not an indicator of a slipping clutch...

I would say it's your clutch. I have chirped third probably only about 5 times in the 2 1/2 years I've owned my Max. I have always been able to chirp second every time I tried until lately. My clutch doesn't really slip, it just doesn't GRAB like it used too. My clutch is stock, but not for long. Hellooooooo ACT.

I have the stock Potenza RE92's on

I really dont have a slipping problem...well alittle but my problem feels like the clutch skipps...like if I quick shift not going fast it skipps, and then grabs. I drove my buddys 95 with the stock clutch home from E-town and his car felt more solid and all around better. I dont know, I can explain it

but If I have people in the car, you have to hit it perfectly not to get slip into 2nd and even 3rd

Okay... I have a basically stock 97... It does have some cheese tires on the front, but I can nearly roach second, and probably chirp third if I want... 77,000 Miles.

I use to be able to burn through first, second, and chirp third with the crappy kelly chargers on the car, but I have 17" rims with kumho supras and I rarely lose traction in second. First isn't easy to chirp unless I really try. But if you're draggin someone, you don't want that spin.

The only thing you can hurt chirping gears is the clutch, hence everyone saying get a better one (ACT). As to how to do it, if that has to be explained, you don't need to be doing it.

I can burn part way through second with slicks. But I guess an auto doesn't count. It will only chirp N/A though.

Ive always been able to chirp 2nd or peel a while and have chirped 3rd a few times with the stock clutch, actually i can get it to do it at like 2000rpm if i shift fast and get on the gas fast. i can even do it in my other car which is a 3cyl LOL but in that car i got to take it to red line and can only do 2nd. so it could be the clutch or the rims why you cant barely do it

Ditto. Need full exhaust ... Y-pipe is apparently the key to chirping 3rd.

If I slowly get on the throttle in first and slam it into second, I can still easily chirp the tires on a stock clutch. STS makes it alot easier.

I can chirp second most of the time with my Kuhmo's but it really depends on the road surface. Never been able to chirp third. I can barely chirp first in the gf's 95 240SX.
