nissan mechnaic responsible?
hey, i think i have to get a new weatherstrip for my car because water is leaking into the trunk. i went to a nissan dealer and thats what he told me. its gona cost me 150 bucks. this is my question, if he does whatever he does but the problem is still not fixed, can i take the car back and tell them they have to fix it or not? in other words, if i go back and they say it wasnt the strip its something else, who would be responsible???????????????? thanks a lot for any input.
Depends on whether the weatherstrip was worn out already. If it was worn out, but that wasn't the cause of the water leaking, the dealer isn't really responsible because they were performing a "repair" on your car. But if they replace something on your car that wasn't broken to begin with, then you have the right to complain if the new part doesn't solve your problem.
In either case, you can argue to get them to refund your money for the part, but not for the labor.

If you want the dealer to be resposable then pay them to diagnose the problem. If you tell them you think it is the weatherstrip and they replace it, then it is your fault for being wrong. Ive seen more people get burned this way and they dont understand why.
