Improve handling with Konis and stock springs

Did anyone try using a set of Konis with stock springs? Driving impressions (handling, ride, ...)?

I want to improve the handling of my 98 GXE. It rebounds and floats way too much. The car has 52K miles and the suspension has been checked OK by the dealer recently.

I was much more satisfied with my 90 Integra. I used to do spirited driving, but my Maxima doesn't like it, and people onboard get seasick.

Actual modifications: Front strut tower brace and Pirelli P6000 improved steering feel and handling in general. But this was not enough and didn't get rid of the rebounds and floatiness.

I'm considering putting a set of Konis as my next modification. I intend to keep the stock springs: rebounds and floatiness seem more like a dampning problem than a spring rate problem to me. And my primary interest is not to lower the car.

Please use the search function -- there is a wealth of knowledge in past posts regarding Maxima suspension setups -- people on this site have done every conceivable variation and have written nice reviews on their setups.

Re: Improve handling with Konis and stock springs

If you are thinking KONI's, forget it and get AGX. Cheaper and less liability. Less pain in the *** BIG TIME. You could also do KYB GR-2's which are like SE OEM shocks/struts.

I'd say get the KYB AGX's and play around with what settings make you happy. Will also handle lowering springs in case you change your mind...

Also, since you plan on keeping the stock springs, invest in an RSB to cut down on the body roll.
