Any parts store will have film remover but I have used WD-40 and rubbing alcohol before to remove glue. Obviously positive ventilation is necessary or you'll be seeing this

Roger,

I already told you in the email. Just rip the tint off slowly by hand, you will not pull off the defogger lines as long as you rip with the lines and not perpendicular to then. I have done this twice now.

Once you get the tint off, you will have a rack of sticky film/adhesive on the back window. Just put alot of towels on the seats and rear deck, then just spray the entire back window with like 409 or all purpose cleaner. Let it sit for about 1-2mins, then use a Green Sponge (The kitchen sink sponge that has Yellow sponge on one side and Green scrubber on the other side) and work the back window with the Green side. It will not harm or scratch anything since you use it in the Kitchen sink with Glassware. Do that as necessary, and then just clean up.

This is the only professional way to do it. DO NOT use a heat gun method on the back window, it is only to be used on the side windows. Reason being, you do not want to heat it up so much to the point where the Tint pulls up the defogger lines because you just loosened then up also.

DIXIT is right, you want to put plenty of towels behind the back of the seat, and presoak your film. That rear glass shelf is a pain to clean. I was the impatient type and used only the kit sold at the parts store with glass cleaner. That allowed me to pull the film off but left a plenty of glue residue on the window, so I scraped it off with a razor blade, and a fine metal wool cloth...A lesson has been learned, now I need instruction on how to repair stripped defroster lines.

They sell kits that help repair cut or messed up defogger lines. It is basically a metal based ink that you re-draw the lines to establish connectivity again.

I'd love to replace my rear tint.

My install guy did not do when with the dot-matrix. He told me (after install) that this was all you could do w/o painting over the top band. But I know he was full of it (or ignorant) b/c I have seen many tinted Maximas and mine is the worst.

They did give me a lifetime-warranty. It's been ~ a year and a half. I was thinking of calling them up and saying "I am still dissatisfied, and are you any better at it now?" I'm sure this should be NO prob and they'll fix me right up, right?

usually the warantee covers bubbling and fading and peeling (as long as its not caused by something you do). i dont think the warantee covers satisfaction. maybe if you said something not too long after the application but since its a year and a half later i dont think they're going to accept that.

I just called them and they said to bring it by. I know this could mean anything, but it's worth a shot.

YOUR TINT GUY WAS RIGHT

Your tint guy was right. If you tint over the microdots it looks like crap and/or it won't stick. I work at a tint shop and my microdots aren't tinted.fyi
