check this out! last night on my way home from work i was doing about 80 down the street( of course playingwith my new intake). I pull up behind this car and was going to pass him on the left. when i moved into the left lane he gunned it , so i kept up and we both wound up being stopped at the light. I look over and it is this 60 something year old guy driving a black impala! now i know i can't beat an impala( damn cop cars) but i figured what the hey
The light turned green and i hit the gas and he did to. I started a little quicker then he did. we stayed together until about 30mph when he left me I mean pulled away from me like i was sitting still. oh that sucked! then what really made me upset was that after he left me by about 4 car lengths he stuck his hand out the window and gave me a thumbs up and then turned it down! that was just plain ol wrong!! i pulled up next to him and he was cracking up!! so i gave him the thumbs up and laghed it off and kept going. If i had an sc would i have been able to beat him?

 

Which Impala? They're both cop cars here in NY. The old style Impalas, the one that had the Impala SS with a corvette engine, those were fast. Maxima probably can't touch that. The new Impalas with the 200 HP V6,te "Lets' go for a drive" slogan , you should have toasted him.

a year back or so, i was ran off the road by a 'Police Inercepter' Impala. I believe it was a supercharged version but it wasnt much faster then me in my old Legend.

 

OMFG dude, you can not beat a impala? Ok dont get me wrong the years around 96' SS versons are preaty fast....by boy has one... stock back in the day i could hang dead even with him to 60 mph, no i spank the living **** out of him.... Dont worry about a SuperC you dont need to go all out just to beat him....but to answer your Q if you had one yes u would have beaten him.... ok this is what you do..pay back is a *****... ( are u auto or 5 speed? ) well if your auto its all good, all you need to do is tonight order a Down pipe, cattman, buggett, stillen , dosent matter, who gives a ****, there all the same....just incase your woundering i have a buggett, it works great sounds great...i saw great gains from it.... ok now u said u had a intake...GOOD what kind? I have a little pop charger warm air, if u have a cold air, more power to you , if not, then its all good. Go on Ebay and order you a Muffler, a nice one what ever you think looks good, I got a nice plain style HKS muffler, i love it, e-mail me if you want to see pictures....then go to a muffler shop or whatever and go get it put of, junk your stock exhuast, have the guy run you new piping all the way from your CAT to the back ( cat back) and then add your new muffler you wanted, i have a guy here thats great workes honest, and has a good price, i dident pay more then 50$ for the muffler, for instalation and piping all the way from the cat back i payed about 80$! and then he installed my Y-pipe for me for 30$! great prices, well anyway basicly what im saying is with these 3 mods u will be fine, lean to drive your car, so what if its a auto i dont care what anyone says , if u drive it rite u can easly kill 3 tens of a second off from your 1/4 times.... go back out in the area u live, pull over one night in a parking lot facing the street and wait for that 60 year old mother ****er, as in what i like to call a stake out =) and then go chase him down and smoke his ! and give him the thumbs up thumbs down ... and then when he gets next to u, give him a face like this and say whats up *****! then flag his *** off go home....pay back is a ***** ( for him ) but when you can why the hell not.... and there ya go, thats all my 2 cents... sorry about spelling im tired as hell

Well I am just a young fellow, 55, but I love racing and winning against even younger guys than myself. Don't matter how old you get if its in your blood its in your blood. I love talking to the young Honda guys at the track after I obliterate then down the 1/4. They are pretty cool about an old guy beating them though.
Just remember that youth and skill can be overcome by old age and treachery every time.

 

If you have a stillen intake, cool ... There a lot better then people think they are. I cant honestly say about Over D on or off, when I went to the track having it off made me slower....but what ever you feel works. All you need is a couple more mods and your right there, your not far away at all. Theirs no need to get a SuperC just to compete with an Impala

I Apologies for this thread, it made it seem like older people cant race, or shouldn't be racing, when in realty that's not right, all of us may be youth full and love to race, well the second we get passed 30 does that make us have to stop? Jime you right and agree with you, this post shouldn't have been so focused on the age of the driver in the impala, but more of just the car it self. I apologies once again. Off hand i cant honestly say i do enjoy when our dads come out with us to the track with there cars and race with us, there older, and they teach us a lot of things..and i wouldn't take that away for the world

The cheezyness aside, I have raced a 96 Impala SS and got him to 60 but got rosted from 70-100 buy at least a car length. I think that he had pipes on it but that thing was fast! Sounds like a beast too.

 

Well how moded are u, stock maxima, stock impala, they ride out on us hard, so if u have a couple things and hung, maybe he was still stock too

 

You know your right about the age thing I guess for me it really was the grin and laugh that he gave me after he beat me. It was like see i showed that young punk!! but thats ok!!I talked to someone else i know and he told me he got beat by the same guy!! so i'll be waiting for him and ready next time!

 

Well I don't like to rub it in, you never know when it is going to happen to you. Everyone likes to win but someone has to lose in order for that to happen. Most guys are pretty good with that but some take it personally, I stay out of their way.
