I read a few pages and lots of posts about rewiring the turn signal / side markers so they alternate etc... tell me if this is correct:

1)Cut off the negative wire from the side marker.

2) Attach the wire that comes out of the negative side of the side marker to the positive connection on the turn signal.

true or false ???

Quick question: What do you mean by alternate? Do the side markers and turn signals just blink alternately, or are the turn signals and side markers switched up (so that the turn signals become the lenses on the outside?) Thanks.

I mean so that when you have your headlights on and a turn signal they flash one at time (alternate) turn-sig -> side-marker -> turn sig etc...

You basically cut the black wire(ground) from the side marker and connect it to the green wire(power) from the blinker.

I have a diagram of it (i made it myself b4 I attempted the mod).

I must have asked at least 20 questions about it just to be sure.

I just ICQd u..

Hey Blue, if you want to get alternating turning signals, wouldn't you have to put another orange bulb in the side marker lights or are you leaving it clear?

I've seen this mod before... with headlights and turn signal both on, this is what happens..

turn signal flashes (on) (off) then side marker flashed (on) (off)... repeat...

Took me awhile but I got it

I'll try to make this easy yet descriptive

you cut the ground of the sidemarker...

splice it to the positive of the blinker...
(What I mean where is, completely cut the ground of the sidemarker, but use a wire stripper to shave off the coating to the positive of the blinker. You do not want to cut the positive of the blinker, you only want to expose the copper wire.)

Shave off the wire coating of the sidemarker ground wire that you cut. (The wire that still connects to the sidemarker, not the one that is connected to body of the car.)

Wrap the copper wire around the exposed positive wire of the sidemarker and wrap it up with electrical tape or solder.

Test:
when the headlights or parking lights are off, the sidemarker gets no juice. When you signal, the postive current goes to both the blinker and the sidemarker.

when the headlights are on, the sidemarker will stay on as it gets current from the positive wire that you didn't touch and ground to the positive of the blinker. When you signal, the lights should alternative.

You guys are really smart and know what your doing. I trust the judgment on this site to the fullest. I rewired my corners and they look real cool with the toucan super white bulbs. I had one problem and didn't have enough heart to really try and that was changing the harness between the corner lights and the blinkers. I really want to keep the blinkers on with the corners but yet blink. I noticed the blinkers has 2wires and the corner has 3wires black, orange, red, now when you change the harness, one will have only 2wires compared to 3wires how do they connect? I know some of you guys are tired of this subject but I try not to ask too many questions.

You dont have to twist or tape or solder anything if you use snap on wire taps. The guy at the hardware store should know what they are if you dont. Thats what I did.
