Are you installing it yourself? Is it hard to install one by yourself?

 

how long did it take for you to get your TIG welded pipe? i just ordered one so I was wondering, last time i call they said three weeks but iIi called today and they said that it will probably be here next week.

 

i just got mine 2 days ago, exact same one too, just curious but did yours like like they may have tested it once just from little heat marks or anything of the sort?

 

from what i hear its fairly easy to install if u can jack car high enough, but the later models 96 and down (possibly even higher) have rusted bolts which are impossible to get off...so u may have no choice but to go to shop....

 

I haven't even unwrapped it yet...still in the box.... I have been super busy. Sunday I am aiming to put it on. Welded SS usually can have some discoloration, but it's ok...it's not like you can see the thing anyway heheh. I will have the car up on a lift, I hope, for the install. The wait for me was pretty long; they just got some more people to weld for them, though, so hopefully the backlog will be diminished. They're really nice to deal with too; I wanted to track my pipe, so I got the tracking # yesterday, and then it arrived a few hours later lol.

 

ah i see, mines going in on sunday at my friends shop, hes got lift access so it will help quite a bit, i talked to kenneth too and he said his looked like mine so its all good

 

then on Sunday night we can post together about how happy we are!

 

Some tips:
- Don't bother trying to remove the O2 sensor leads and all the clips. Just twist out the O2 sensor and leave it wound up, then when you reinstall it'll unwind and be ok.

- Use anti-seize on the O2 sensor threads - Very important, if you ever end up taking the pipe back off.

- Check the clearence around the Y-pipe/Cat bracket. You might have to bend it back so it doesn't hit the body.

- Reset the ECU

- Have fun
Do some 60+MPH testing, you'll notice a difference

 

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind. I knew about the ECU reset, and I always use anti-sieze on practically everything on that car. Yay crappy Nissan metals.

 

Okay, first off, the install wasn't too bad. THe bolts on the cat and heat shiel were rusted through, so we had to cut break the HS bolts right off, and then slice through one fo the cat bolts and replace it. That was the worst part. With some special liquid wrench, the other bolts were no problems. O2 sensors were cake. It wasn't bad!

Performance after resetting ECU: AWESOME!! Had a rubbing of metal under there, but we fixed that up and it's phatt now! I have to take a nice test drive today; it was raining a lot yesterday, and I have bad tires, so I was unable to really test the car.

yup; there's a kind of rushing sound (all aftermarket Y's have this), and it's an even deeper sound than before; but I have the midpipe, so this also contributes a great deal.

 

glad to hear yours worked, mines on the way back to arkansas right now, the bung for the O2 sensor was in the wrong place, and made the sensor rub against the axle, fortunately i made contact with them, and they are going to fix it, otherwise we had no problems at all, even with almost 7 year old bolts

here are a couple pics, there is plenty of open room for the sensor had the hole been closer to the side, however its far enough towards the front to get in the way of the axle

 

I was looking at replacing my muffler on my own. We get a lot of salt & crap in Toronto. What did you use to "break" & "slice" through your HS bolts?
How long should the liquid wrench be allowed to do its work? Thx in advance for your answers!

What did Chris and I use? A sawsall, torch, and vice-grips heh. he did most of that stuff...I'm such a girl.

 

all we needed was a 4 point jack, some wd40, and an air tool that had pivot joints and assorted sockets, oh and a big screwdriver that we tried to no avail to get it on..

 

how long did it take you all to get your pipes??? i just ordered my WSP mandrel bent aluminized pipe for my 98 SE today...how long???
