Air channel in the front.

Can any one tell me what that air channel in front of the car is. I kind of leads to the bottom of the stock air filter box. When people place the air filter with somehting like the JWT intake, is there still any use for it? I've seen some pictures of cars with it, and without it?

Thanks.

i think it would be unnecisary, yet i dont have a JWT or anything, so hearing an answer from someone with it would be more assuring, but IMO, its not needed....

You mean the the intake scoop that sits on the radiator. You can do without it, but a JWT/Stillen could use it. I re-installed mine when I made a hybrid. The scoop has 3 holes, I covered up 2 of them so that all the RAM air effect goes straight out of the back . . .into the JWT. How good is it But it won't do any harm either.

I'd think that it's a good thing to keep the air channel/conduit in place to direct more cooler air from outside the engine bay to the pop charger. Cooler air is denser with O2 vs. hot engine bay air which the engine likes.

It's a ram air scoop

The effectiveness of it seems somewhat debatable.. but having has to be better than not, right?

the "ram air" scoop pulls air from outside into the stock airbox(es). Yes, there are 2. One is below, where the tube connects to under the car, and one is visible and has the air filter.

I am leaving mine in for several reasons.

NOPE. Some have it, some don't. I don't know why.

My 96 Max Auto Beige has one under there...

my recent 95 Max 5-speed Ruby Pearl doesn't.
