I am having trouble locating where to go in finding this item. This is the first car that I have personally worked on so I need some serious help. The ECU 1005 so I hope by locating the valve I can find out if that is the problem or not.

 

The EGR control solenoid is mounted at the rear of the left front cylinder head near the transmission dipstick. It has three air valves coming out of it. Very simple to replace. I found it easy to remove the air filter assembly. You have more room to work with your hands. When I replaced mine, it was difficult to remove the hoses. I found it easier to cut them and replace with new ones.

You where right it is fairly easy to remove because it is right on top and easy to get to.
