Does anyone know how to rewire the rear speakers to use aftermarket ones instead of the bose?

 

I don't know exactly how but I do know that you have to have some kind of converter to use aftermarket 6X9's with the factory Bose system. Go to Crutchfield's website it might not be listed on there, but I know that they sell them. You will probably have to call them. Search around on the internet, I'm sure someones got instructions on how to wire them.

 

I had the same problem last month. u dont have to buy any converter or anything. I changed the entire system (well i observed my friend did the work) took a few days but like 2 hrs here and there plus its cold out. he bought speaker wire, and rewired it,straight from the new stereo to new speakers, he took the short cut, he hide the wire through the door and floor, not even noticeable. it works perfect,even if u dont chagne the speakers but change the stereo this type of rewiring will work, i had th old speakers for a week they sucked but it worked. well good luck its not that hard i could of done it myself lol. i also asked on the forum and i heard about a converter, and other things i needed but i didnt need it, just straight rewiring worked for me. good luck

If I recall, you have to cut the wire on the amplifier to the speaker. If you want to run the Bose amps, then just cut the wires and add a female wire connector so that it will plug right into the new speakers. I beleive Bose speakers have a lower ohm load so the new speakers may perform differently. If you don't want to run the Bose amps, then you will need to run new wire. If your installing an amp in the trunk, well, of course you can just run the wire from the amp up to the speaker.

 

Umm...new wire isnt necessary really..if you cut the wire BEFORE the amp, find the 2 wires wrapped in a grey cover..these are the same wires as behind the head unit...and if you connect them at the head unit, trace em to where they go and hook them to the speaker at the right location(after snippin them before the bose amp)..it works They're not very big gauge wire, but big enough for running off of the head unit.
