Did the car start before you changed the sensor? Make sure the harness SNAPS in place... if it isn't FULLY SEATED, it won't start.

Oil on the inside part is normal...

Sounds like you also have a starter problem or a low battery (which may also cause a bad idle. I don't think you needed these sensors (unless the ECM kicked out the codes.. and that doesn't mean you need them 100% of the time). Check your starting system and battery first.

If the car runs after its push started its not those sensors. If those sensors were bad it would not run at all.

Like MardiGrasMax said, if the sensor actually failed (or disconnected) the car doesn't run... I didn't fully seat my camsensor back correctly when I did my S/C and I could start the car for a week. It would just crank over.

All they are are magnetic sensors, IIRC. The ECM occasionally kicks out 'wrong codes'.

Does the car 'crank over'??? If it doesn't, then you have (also?) another problem.

i did a 5spd swap...i got cel...my car runs perfect..well, as far as i can tell...only two odd codes i had as the crankshaft sensor and the air temp sensor..all other was solenoid code for the auto tranny...i reset the ecu and the air temp sensor code went away but the crankshaft sensor is still there...

Check the connections to the starter (battery +)...
Using the old school "hit the starter with the hammer" will destroy the new starters they now use. You may need to buy a new starter (at least that).

You may need to test the sensor... Did you drop the sensor or something?

Reset the CEL... I would imagine if you tried to crank it over and it didn't spin the crank enough, that may trip the code. If it reappears then worry about it then.

the sensor i'm talking about is the sensor inbetween the engine and tranny...when i took off the tranny i didn't bother to take that sensor out...even tho haynes manual recommended to...but i dunnoe if i damaged it in the process of putting it back on...
