Greddy, best looking IMHO. Sounds real mellow, which is nice.

IMO the best bet is to pick a staright through muffler that you like and get an exhaust shop to custom fab the rest of the cat back. That only usually runs about $300 to $350 installed...

From what i've read the Apexi WS is the quietest out of all the aftermarket exhaust..

how are the custom exhausts when it comes to noise level? is it as quiet as the Apexi or is it much louder?

In my opinion from reading other threads the best all around exhaust system, would be to get headers(when there available, y-pipe, and get a shop to make 2and 1/2 inch piping, with a 2 and 1/2 cat and everything, and there muffler, at least thats what im gonna do when I get the money

Would the 2&1/2 inch piping and a universal muffler have the same gains in hp( I know its only a few) as a greddy or apexi??
I heard this guy's setup (like above) and it sounded real good but I'm unsure of the performance.

i plan to test my setup soon. i must warn you that if you go the route i went, your car will be dramatically louder. pick your mufflers carefully. it was so loud at first that i couldn't hear myself think. i'm getting used to it now and plus the ECU is compensating. some days's its louder than other days. weird. still annoying on long cruises. anyway, i'm trying out a new muffler. i'll keep you posted if you're interested.

How many miles did your car have with the muffler rusted out?

Best performing catback

Assume that sound isn't a concern.

Wouldn't the Stillen exhaust products, like their Y-pipe, downpipe, etc be the best choice for most HP/torque gains?

Re: Best performing catback

ok guys, i think i've found the perfect exhaust! i used to have an N1 style canister. it was too loud and unliveable for day to day driving. i decided to order a borla turbo muffler and 3.5" angled intercooled tip. it arrived within a week and i had it welded on today. it sounds great! it has the loudness and deepness i want when on the throttle. it's loud but not so loud that it hurts your ears. most importantly, NO DRONE! you guys have no idea how happy i am there's no drone and it's a true straight through muffler. no more riceboy sound, riceboy can and nasty looks from people drivin by. my whole exhaust is stainless steel 2.25" pipe! if i did it right the first time it would have cost less than $400. it reminds me of my intake. it growls hard (not hurting my ears at all), nice and deep at hard throttle and becomes silent at cruise. best of both worlds. it's so nice, everyone should have my freakin setup! anyway, that's my contribution to the maxima community for now. glad i could test a few mufflers out for you guys. i will post this on the general forum also.
