rear brake replacement

Can someone direct me to a site, or post instructions on replacing the back brakes. my main concern is taking the emergency brake cable off and putting it back on. Any tips??

Just take the pin bolts out and it should be simple for ya then. What pads are you putting in?

what are you replacing?

if it's just the pads (I see you have a SE, so it's disc brakes all around), then you dont need to worry about the parking brake cable

when you compress the piston to slide the caliper back down, be sure to use some needle-nose pliers to twist it clockwise while pushing in; dont just use a clamp like the fronts

for pads, you just need to take off the wheel, remove one bolt holding the inner caliper to the outer portion and the flip the inner caliper assembly up and you can then get to the brake pads
for rotors, you need to take off both the inner and outer caliper and then the rotor will just pull off with some force

in this pic, the silver part is the part I'm calling the "inner caliper" and the black is the outer
yours will be all one color (brake dust grey) unless you've painted them like this guy (killermove is his name)

where in GA are you? I'm in Duluth (Gwinnett County) if you know where that is

That makes no sense what so ever. If you have an SE you have rear disks. If you have a GXE you can convert it to disks...do a search because Matt(I think it was him) posted a link on how to do the conversion.

First one I have ever heard of...are you sure they are drum brakes? If they are drum are you sure you have an SE?

Not that I dont believe you but I have never heard of an SE without disk brakes...I thought that was one of the standard features of the SE from 89-94.

that ad seems to be advertising a 89-91 SE with all disk brakes...and i don't think they would have changed it for the 92 so...hmm maybe someone did a disc to drum conversion

if you have drums..then you have a GXE.
disk brake pads goes on disk brakes.
brake shoes goes on drum brakes...
they don't mix and match.
