Remove rear spoiler from SE?

Hello all!

I'm considering getting a 2003 SE (previously had a 96 SE and now have a Lexus GS300), but I prefer the look of the car without the rear, trunk-mounted spoiler.

Is there anyway to remove the spoiler without causing too much of a mess?

Thanks for your help!

Andrew

it's really easy to remove the spoiler...but you will have holes on your trunk if you took it off....why don't u just get the new I35t? you can buy an I35t without the spoiler.

I think the I35t is much more expensive than a similarly equipped SE... correct me if i'm wrong.

it is more expensive..but a fully loaded SE would run more than 30K sticker price..so if you think about it that way, the I35t isn't all that more expensive...all Infiniti comes with free loaner car for scheduled serivce, better and longer warranty and nicer amenities.
if you're not into shifting yourself, then the I35 is a good buy. plus, Maximas look much much better with a spolier...I35s..well, they are good looking cars with or without..

I don't think the I35 is going to be around much longer. It's not in the future car lineup. Plus infiniti is not talking about the I35 at all.

I'm using carsdirect.com for pricing research, and there is a $2500 difference between SE and I35t.

Do you not like the stock spoiler, or just don't like any spoiler on there? If it's the latter, I wonder if there's any other spoilers that can utilize the existing factory holes?

I don't like any spoiler there. To reply to a previous post .. my friend works for a Nissan / Infiniti dealer, and at their monthly lunch today, they had an M45 on display. VP of Infiniti also said there are no plans to shelve I35.

Highly doubtful. The I35 is the real Maxima everywhere else in the world.

One way to get rid of the spoiler and not leave holes would be to order a whole new trunk lid for a GXE. This is obviously the most expensive route...unless the dealer will let you trade the SE lid.

BTW, either way you won't have a middle brake light then.

Just negotiate the car without a spoiler. They may think your crazy, but hey, if they get to keep their $499 spoiler, it's to their advantage....

I'd like to take mine off, too.
I need some paint work done to my trunk, thanks to some momo in a parking lot...so I was planning on the holes getting filled and painting the trunk.
They usually paint the whole body part anyway, right?

Yep, they will bondo the holes and paint the whole trunk lid. Guess you're not worried about the middle brake light, huh?

It is required by law to have a middle brake light. I would buy a GLE trunk lid, which has the third light on the lid, and have the dealer paint and install that.

The GLE has a middle brake light on the trunk lid? I thought it was on the rear window deck.
