I have heard alot about NGKs and have been recently hearing alot of iridium and i need a spark plug change and was wondering which is the best i can go with?
I don't care about price, I want quality and longevity.

 

i just changed my plugs with NGK platinums. the original ngk platinums that i took out looked liked they could have gone another year...but i just thought it was a good time to change them. i have noticed smoother acceleration since putting them in.

 

Any lost power you noticed come back or no ??

 

Denso Iridium is supposed to give just a miniscule amount of power more than the Platinums. Denso did dyno comparisions, but I don't know if it was just marketing or if there was any truth to that.

I had Denso Iridiums on my previous car and I was very satisfied. I don't know if I would have been just as satisfied if I put in new Platinums, but I didn't try.

 

i have noticed some revitalized power...hard to say if its all in my head after sweating over the engine bay for 30 minutes in the high humidity putting them in. but in theory you should see a return in power. plugs that came with the car and driven for X amount of miles vs. those same plugs w/o miles...you do the math. NGK's are a good plug.

 

IMO I would buy NGK plugs and wires..
I used them on 91 Honda Accord EX sedan and no complain at all.

 

Use NGK Laser Platinum Plugs and you'll be happy. Laser Platinum is double Platinum plug (platinum disc laser welded to center electrode and ground electrode). Denso Iridium plugs have an Iridium center electrode and an alloy ground electrode, recommended replacement by Denso at 30,000 miles. Why would you pay more for a plug that doesn't have as long a service life as the NGK Laser Platinum. Not me! Also NDIS (Nissan Direct Ignition System) is designed to take advantage of Double Platinum Plug. NGK is bringing out a hybrid Iridium plug that has an Iridium center electrode and Platinum ground electrode. Working with John at NGK Corporate Technical Support to obtain a set for evaluation. So far confusion reigns supreme when trying to buy these plugs from vendors. I'll keep you posted! The ultimate plug would be a double Iridium plug but it would be pricey! my guesstimate is $35 - 40 a plug. Would have a hard time justifying this purchase to myself. Would rather apply money to NGK Laser Platinums and mods. Your thoughts!

I stay stock simply b/c all the others may offer some sort of advantage, but there is a dis-advantage, too. The NDIS system on the Max is hard to beat, changing the plug it uses will gain Maybe 1-2% hp at most, but always at the sacrifice of some reliability. Denso Iridiums offer more power but last 30K miles, instead of 60K. Bosch +4s are a roll of the dice, some people are OK with them, some VQs have been nearly destroyed by them.

After putting fresh NGK Plats in, you won't have to even think about plugs for the next 60K miles

once you get one out...they are all pretty simple after that. but do pay close attention to the one on the rear bank by the throttle. i thought i could get it out without removing the piece that is directly over top. it is simple to pull the two nuts that are holding it in and pull it back while you get the coil and plug out.

 

My manual calls for NGK double platinums. A buddy gave me a new set of the equivalent in Denso double platinum. Do you think they will perform as well as The NGK double platinums?

I have never used any other brand other than NGK. Japanese cars like NGK.

I have heard of ppl using trying other brand plugs but then having issues. Stay with NGK.
