I am thinking about removing that old raggy thing and that card board, and put in this white stuff thats 3x harder than sheetrock and it's grainy. They sell it at Home Depot but I forgot what kinda material it's called... I know it's thin... I'm going to glue it to some plywood and insert it in the trunk in 2 pieces, connected by hinges so there wont be a gap, to replace that old carpet and cardboard... Since it's white, my black light in the trunk would make it glow around my two 12's. Later on I'm gonna put the two amps by the latch and plexicase them with red neons inside it. I am also gonna get rid of the blacklight, already in the trunk, for a red neon. Anyone else got some good ideas?

What I just did on mine...

This is a little basic but I've always wanted to do this... First of all, get rid of that cardboard... I just have a flat piece of plywood that covers the trunk. I have a 1.25 cubic ft. box that sits square in the back middle of the trunk, mounted down so it don't slide. Then I measured out a 1/4" mdf piece of wood that would cover the entire box and leaving the speaker (boston 12") exposed. I have that piece carpeted also, now you can't tell how big the box is and it looks like I have no trunk. I wish I had some pics to show but I don't. Very clean though.. trust me.

Are you talking about Formica, the stuff they use for counter tops?

Just wondering, do you guys leave the spare in, or take it out? I'm thinking that if you leave the spare in, with all the stuff that will be in your trunk, taking out the spare by that time will be a major pain in the ***, wouldn't it? I think it makes sense to take out the spare if you going to redo your whole trunk. I'm planning to do the same to my trunk soon.

I left my spare in... Yeah, really no point to leave it in, but I didn't feel the need to clutter up the garage any further.

MDF

I wouldn't suggest building an entire trunk housing out of MDF. That's just asking to be outraced by a stock CRX or something hehe. That stuff weighs a TON =).. If you're gonna go all out, fiberglass it. Otherwise uh.. Plywood sounds alright but it'd be tacky if you didn't cover it properly. Anyone on here got custom trunk works? I was gonna do it a while back but never figured out how to get it to be loud. I figure if I ever do it now, I'm just gonna have a sub in each wheel side of the trunk. (ie, skip the whole bandpass-through-the-rear-deck-and-eliminate trunk rattle completely .... too hard)

Sounds good; you'll have to post some pics for us when it's done. How much does the Formica cost? I'm thinking of using some on my amp rack.
