Better milage with K&N filters

Yesterday I installed my K&N filter, after driving my car on a high way for about 45 min I noticed that my milage went to 25mpg. It was never that high before, the most I ever got was 21.9 and that was after driving on the highway for 2 hours. I am loving it. Did anyone noticed the same results in their maximas??

The trip computer ain't very accurate. Mine goes anywhere from 18-24 just driving in a mixed highway-city environment.

You're best bet is to check the mileage using the old method over a long period of time (say, several tanks of gas)

Exactly my point. Thanks soundmike!
Yesterday I reset the trip computer on the highway just for giggles and it was reading 30MPG for like the first 2 minutes!

I know that its not that accurate but going from 21.9 to 25, it has to have a little to do with the filter. I mean less restrictions, the easier it is for the engine to breath the air = better milage

Remeber, that trip meter is constantly updating, and has soooo many variables. On car with Instant MPG...the range can go from 2MPG on acceleration to 70 MPG when light braking on the highway. You might have just been not that heavy footed. I am not saying the filter had nothing to do with your results , but your talking a 20% increase in fuel economy.

It is actually 8% increase and Im not saying that its all thanx to the filter but I think that it has something to do with that. I mean why would my milage/gallon just jump so rapidly out of nowhere

Re: Better milage with K&N filters

one possible cuase:
1.u change ur driving habit after insert K&N? I know I would get really good fuel economy if I take 30 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60.

Since when do u put an intake on and not step on the gas pedal to hear it grawl, think about what u r saying, My city milage actually went down cause I havent been changing gears under 5000 rpms since I put it on my car.

A K&N filter isn't really an "intake".

I didnt, when I put my berk intake....I took some time to let my ecu and maf adjust larger amount of air flow. so I was actually grandpa driving for the first week. now I am addicted to its whistle and growl.....

Re: Re: Re: Re: Better milage with K&N filters

I bought mine from berk tech. 55$ (K&N with the adaptor), I think this is a very resonable price. the only bad part was that the metal part that holds the intake in place doesn't fit right I had to shave a pretty good chunk of metal off to have it fit since the airconditioning metal pipe is located rith next to it and it was rubbing against it.
