How much did your konis cost and are they ajustable because it seems like the ones avaiable at shox.com are the regular non ajusatble konis for the third gen max. They have the sport konis for the 4 gen max which is ajustable and regular konis for the 3 gen which i don't think there ajustable but i could be wrong thats why i'm asking.I plan on ordering some shocks friday and need to know which shocks i should go with between the konis if there ajustable or the tokico which i may get if the ajustable konis aren't avaiable for my car.

Can someone please answer me this question about konis

what is the difference between the regular koni shocks and the illumina's besides the $200 difference. If the differnce between the two is that the illumina's are adjustable, what would that mean? and is it worth the extra $200 for the illuminas over the regular konis?
by the way, i got em both priced, and if i recall correctly these are what they came out to

Regular Koni - $360/set
Illumina - $540/set

Uhhh, Illumina is a line of Tokico shocks which aren't available for MAximas (yet).

the Koni are adjustable through a screw at the bottom of the cartridge. the problem with that is that you have to have the cartridge out of he strut housing in order to adjust them.. they're not easily adjustable like the Illuminas are on other cars.

Yes, but not ones with adjustable stiffness, a.k.a. THE ILLUMINAS!!! those are in development for our cars, probably will cost $450+/-

Hmmmm.....

I'm not doubting you, but maybe it was a mistake because I have talked with Tokico and I remeber them telling me there are no Illuminas for our Gen and recently I heard that they were in development from someone on the "other" BBS, but hey I could be wrong!

Re: heres their webpage...

I do believe they make adjustable Konis for our 3-gens. And no the Tokico Illuminas are NOT available for our 3-gens, just the non-adjusable kind. I think you guys are getting confused here.

Yeah Yeah this post is old.
Nopi does offer the illuminas for our car however tokico's website does not list them.
Does anybody know if they are available or not?

Ok, let's end this one right now.

Tokico has standard BLUE high performance struts available for our car. They are NOT adjustable. Illuminas are NOT availabe for the '89 to '94 Maxima.

Koni has their regular RED high performance struts available for our car. They are adjustable only by bottoming out the strut which allows you to adjust a screw at the bottom of the cartridge by turning the shaft. This is refered to as internally adjustable. They are NOT externally adjustable. RED Koni struts can be converted to externally adjustable for $130 each (in addition to cost of strut, or about $250 total per strut). This can be done by one of the two authorized Koni rebuild companies in the United States.

I talked to Tokico some time ago about having the Illuminas made and they had another 3 months until their next manufacturing run and there was not enough time or demand to get R&D to draw up the design. So basically, it ain't gonna happen.

KYB has GR2 high performance struts available for our car that are NOT adjustable. KYB's AGX line is an adjustable strut and is NOT available for the 3rd Gen Max.
