Well the day has arrived. I am now the proud owner of a 1999
maxima SE Limited, Red w/ black leather, 5 speed..

I got the car yesterday and had to make excuses to take the kids out to dinner just so i could see the dash lite up at nite.. Very Cool..

I am going to begin posting pics soon, as well as my upgrades. To begin i will install a K&N filter. I was wondering about the best place to get them. Pepboys wants $ 55.00 plus $ 15 for special shipping because they do not stock the item. ( BS if you ask me)...

Second, anyone use ALKA PLUS for dash kits. I want the carbon fiber dash kit, are they good? They are in NY..

Third, I need the bulb specs for the trunk , what kind of bulb wattage, voltage, ect...

Really looking forward to this.. I saw this car on the showroom floor last year and dreamed of it ever since. I was
almost going to get a mitsubishi Galant VR4 2002 model but it will not be in the country for a while, if at all...

For those not in the know, the 2002 VR-4 has 276 bhp and 4 wheel everything!!! look out for them in europe.

Last question, Why am i labled as " Lurker"?? and how do i " upgrade my status???

Peace,

Bluefish

Hey, what's up. I also have a K&N drop in filter that I got before my popcharger intake. I used it for less than 3 months! E-mail me if you are interested. I am in the DC area.

No, but it sounds very nice, and its gains are pretty close IMO. I agree with Phuong. Get the JWT Popcharger.

JWT = bad. PR CAI = good

- Forget the JWT intake. It mounts too low, scoops up hot air, and costs too much. Place Racing Cold Air Intakes are the best. They mount fairly high (advantage in areas that flood), provide cool, dense air (better for strong combustion) and are supposed to be highly durable. Place Racing is the new kid on the block and is proving to be a go-getter. They are the best. You can find them for sale at Cattmanperformance.com for $215 (plus $15 shipping).
- Enjoy your new car, but forget the K&N filter. ;-)

please..

the intake is mounted behind the battery and away from the exhaust manifold. once the vehicle is up to speed, the heat generated from the engine is not a factor. cold & dirty air from the fender.. what a great setup..

Re: Re: JWT = bad. PR CAI = good

. . . . .once the car is up to speed. That's exactly the point!! With a CAI, we get the gains without having to "get to speed". What, are we talking about, airplanes on a runway?? The CAI costs twice as much as the intake, but you get twice the gain, period.

Cold and dirty air from the fender?? I don't think so. You'll find that most of the air is coming from the front, thru the gaps around the left foglight and lower front grille area. The CAI is better, hands down. I've had mine for a month and the K&N filter still looks brand new.
