ok from what i understand the air temp sensor read the temp of incoming air and either raises the choke or releases the choke according to the temp.... assuming that is all corect my question is if i drill a hole in the mafs and put the ATS in there will the choke still orperate the same? during the winter ill need the choke more and if the only air commin in is hot will there be a problem?

Don't drill the MAF! I assume you have some sort of intake on your car. Just drill the hole somewhere else, anywhere past the MAF goig to the Throttle body, or before the MAF. Most intakes re-work the air temps senor into those places. My Hybrid intake has the air temp sensor between the MAF and TB, in the mid-pipe.

where is your air temp sensor??? I can't find it cuz its not in the stock airbox. I have a mid-pipe and pop installed yesterday but I'm still pulling the air temp sensor code after restting the ecu.

 

FYI - The Air Intake Sensor has nothing to do with your "choke".
Furthermore, there is no choke on a fuel injected engine.

The VQ's ECU adjusts the air/fuel ratio upon a cold start up by reading the engine coolant temperature. The fast idle cam is on the throttle body, also reading coolant temp to operate correctly.

 

On my 98, it was on the ram intake scoop, in the elbow part which made a right turn into the stock intake box with the panel filter.

if u keep pulling the code make sure u have the sensor plugged in b4 u start the car because ull keep getting the error!
