what is the best way to race with an auto? full throttle from the line? halfway....then gun it? i need some advice...

 

i reckon flooring would help. I always power brake it enough so my tires won't peel out. Another suggestion would probably be turning off overdrive, and listening to your 3rd gear to turn it back on. Hell would i know...

 

Well many people will tell you to search for this one and I usually hate when everyone says that but this topic has been mashed into the ground. Search for it.

To try and answer your question, torque braking up to 1500 or 2000 RPMs seems to work well as well as manual shifting. Starting in 1st gear and manually shifting to 2nd then to drive. Experiment for yourself, that is how you'll get the best results

 

I think ReichMax has it right; just don't turn off your overdrive, it is absolutely pointless for 90% of the street, I mean ah, drag racing that you'll be doing. Turning the OD off eliminates fourth gear, which is a freeway/gas conservation gear calibrated to less than 1.0:1. Most of the time people turn thier OD off for moutainous/hilly terrain, NOT street situations.

Yeah, I noticed turning OD on/off doesn't do a thing. I have mine on full time now.

 

You mean to tell me that you guys dont feel the lag that results from having OD on??? Are you crazy? I have a butt dyno to prove it.

well for me if im cruising in 4th gear at low RPM's and floor it, i have to wait for the tranny to drop to 3rd, and then feel more acceleration, but if im cruising maybe 2500-3000 with O/D off and floor it, the kick to it is right there- thats the way i feel it, or possibly this crack is really worth its money!
