yeah i have paid a 40 dollar ticket for "noise pollution" as it was put on the citation...it wasnt a traffic offense...same as if you had a loud sound system outside your house...i was at a stoplight and cops were in a nearby parking lot...i was listening to eminem

you think if i was listening to elton john i would have gotten a ticket?

sorry to hear that tho... is ure stock stereo bose?? Well it really wouldnt matter. w/ ure windows down, music up, and an ******* cop... u'd get the ticket. I heard here in cali, a couple years ago they actually passed some sort of law about "noise pollution". Never really heard of it being enforced...

I live in Swansea, which is two towns over from Fall River, for all you foreigners. The cops know very well that people assemble on "The Ave." as it is known and they make every effort to stop people from going there. FR cops are usually not bad, but if you are on The Ave. on Fri/Sat night, you best keep your eyes open because, as you see, they will do anything to discourage people from going there, mainly because it is well known as the best local drag racing strip. The cops show up 100% of the time and someon almost always gets in trouble, unfortunately.

RI-Max, where you from?

SJPD (San Jose Police Dept):

According to the law, music coming from a vehicle should not be heard greater than 25 feet from the vehicle.

Well if it was past 11, I know you would get in trouble in CT. Something about disturbing the peace of something.

Same here in Louisiana. Loud music can be an advertisement for someone slinging dope. They cruise with the loud music through the hood, take their orders on the street, then return a little later with the dope but without the loud music. Easy as hell to spot when you're watching for it. Some people aren't too bright. Also, loud music is associated with illicit activities by older citizens (read the ones that vote and are civically active), and therefore must be dealt with by the ones who are elected.
In my opinion (and I'll get flamed, so what), it is a matter of respect or common courtesy. Why should someone else have the right to force me to listen to their music. I don't go around making everyone listen to Metallica or Godsmack. Loud music is also not good for your ears. Keep your hearing healthy!

I know how annoying those Harley's can be. I hate them! Where I live, there are more than a few Harley's around. Seem like everytime they get near my house, they would rev up their bikes even more. It's just their loud pipes. I don't really have a problem with the sport bikes, at least they sound cool to me. I also have a problem with annoying loud fartcan sounding imports. Both are really, really annoying. I don't really have a problem with big domestic V8's either, I kind of like the roar. It's just the annoying Harley's and fartcan imports that gets to me.

Here in Dalton Ga i have gotten 2 tickets for my system and, it is not a very good one at that. The cops get bored and hunt for people like me. where i live they LOVE to profile.

I was just in court last week waiting for my turn at the judges bench and at least 5 people before I was called were in for "excessive stereo volume" violations. I'd never heard of that before last week. The standard fine was $20. BTW I live in Southern CA.
