Whoa nice! I'm getting a 2k2 Auto soon, and I was getting worried I should try and find a 6-Speed. This time makes me feel a little bit better knowing that the automagic has some power behind it

 

can't wait for the y-pipe and intake maybe i will hit low 14's on street tires and thinking about getting 15's with slicks and i will be the first 2k2 auto in the 13's

I wish I had the time to "research" the intake debate.

Some say you loose low end power. Most say you gain power. After reading TruBlu2k2 run a 14.6 without an intake, I am interested in seeing what he would do with an intake. You would assume he would gain, but like I saw in some other post (no disrespect mattatax) they are running 14.8's

I understand that there are other conditions involved, like track quality, temperatures, and such.

I guess there may be too many factors to consider. If so, it would almost be pointless to argue anything.

well i will be getting a UDP and injen intake next month so we will see when i test my car with those mods

Out of curiousity how did you shift? Manually (I suspect) or did you just put it into drive and let it take over?

manually because 1st gear shifts too soon. i did run a 14.886 when i left it in drive though

Please explain everything you did to achieve this time. I'm going to be going to the track next week with my auto to race a friend and I definately need help to beat him.

 

ease on it from the launch to about 2500 before you floor it manually shift first at 6000 and do the same in second to third. keep your car cool as possible and try to have as little gas as possible although i had almost a 1/2 tank. come to think about it i don't even remember brake torqueing. ask some others cause it was my first time ever at the track

 

When you say "ease on it", do you mean to keep the brake pressed down and push on the gas until 2500 rpms and then release?

 

noi meant ease on the throttle when the tree is green or on the third yellow just don't floor it right away or you will spin like crazy. i'm not really sure what exactly rpm i floored it on but i think it was near 2500 before i went WOT

 

Awesome time, but we all seem to be trapping the same speed in the auto's, ..... WTF ??

 

don't know i guess autos are just a lot more consistent than manuals on the track but i think thats a known fact but i am going this friday to see if i might can get to 94 trap but in a few weeks i will have the injen intake and UDP and possibly a y pipe if they decide to test fit it and put it into production then it might be 13's but thats high hopes but possible

 

Get a 4000 stall converter, traction and maybe reduce your weight a little and you will see 13s without any other mods!

Showing those 6spds that we can be comfortable in the Raleigh and Charlotte bumper-to-bumper (without replacing a clutch each 10K) and still pop off nice 14's.

Going to try to make it this Fri. I'll PM you when I know for sure.

yes the rock i hoep to break into the 14.5's if it is a little cooler than 90 this time but i did run my 14.6 when it was about high 70's

 

well i went on 7/5 and couldn't break a 14.9 but it was 99 outside and the humidity was well over 90% cause it was so sticky outside . i think i will wait till about sept or october before i run again

I think it is working now. Give it a try.

I ran it with on your 14.6 run and used 91 degrees and 90% humidity. At 70 degrees and 50% humidity you would have ran a 14.26. Quite a difference.

so that things telling me i am capable of running low 14's stock

 

i think we can hit 14.40s to 14.50's with a stock 2k2 auto if the weather is cooler out!! i ran 14.70 at two different tracks with 90+ temps outside. (even with bald tires!!) i had traction control off and was manually shifting too.

Good runs dude! I've never driven an auto, but I certainly respect them now. I'd actually like to race a 2K2 auto at the track, but sadly, I'm usually the only 5th gen there.

Weather, IMO, is THE most important factor when racing. When I was bone stock (removed spare and ran 28psi in front tires) I ran a 14.230@99.23mph. The temp was around 65 degrees I think and humidity was quite low. When I had an intake and lightweight wheels (SSR Competitions 17" @ 14.3lbs each) I ran 14.3 to 14.4 all day. The temp was like 94 degrees with humidity in the 90s as well. I'm just itching for the first decent Sunday afternoon and hope to hit 13s with an intake.

 

well i hope to get about 14.2 in 60 degree weather and low humidity once I get my injen and UDP installed

well late october will most likely be my next run and will finally have some performance mods

 

I saw earlier in the thread, 'in a month I'll have ....., and we'll see how I do' and that was in late June..... It's early August I know, but are we gonna have to wait till October to see the difference now??? ....I'm just impatient (sorry).

yup too hot for optimal results but I do have my UDP. My intake is on order now so just gonna have to wait bro.

 

congrats. but having a UDP does not make you stock anymore. my $.02

 

sorry to inform you but I just installed my UDP today so I guess that makes me stock again doesn't it. I would no post this saying I was stock if I had any engine mods at all. I had no mods to my car at all when the 14.6 was run i was COMPLETELY STOCK now you can keep your $.02 for future mods

How come the trap speed is so low for a 14.6??? I ran 15.07@94.5 mph on a very humid/hot day. I think that its the low end tq that makes the times so good.
