More 4th Gen questions

As luck would have it, there's a '95 5-spd in the Sunday edition of the local paper. The ad reads:

Nissan Maxima '95.
Black. 5 spd. 90K.
Asking $5000/OBO.

Not exactly the most detailed ad in the world...

Let's assume that it's a GXE in base trim (or at least not a lot of options). There's a strong possibility that this was some guy's car while he was in college (large college town newspaper).

Are there any signs of misuse/abuse that are particular to the '95 Maxima? Anything in particular that I should look for or avoid (specific to the 95 Max)?

Thanks for the info.

That seems a little cheap to me. I don't know about cost of trim differences but my 95 GLE Auto with a little over 100k was a little over 7k. Now it was in like perfect condition though so it depends on what quality you want to start with.

Tom, there's not much different in buying a Maxima versus any other car >>

The best thing to do is to take it on a test drive and have YOUR mechanic check the car out. The only solid advice I can offer is that you go to this website and read up on all of the information supplied. The guy who started that site is Jeff Ostroff, an electrical engineer who at first only wanted to create an informative site based on his experiences as a consumer, so you don't have to worry about it being biased.

Good luck
Al

Manual Tranny ........

Have the tranny looked at closely. There prone to differential bearing failure. Check both drive shafts for play or leakage at the shaft seals.
