6 speed manual in a 4th gen???

Don't know if this can be done, but I searched and didn't come up with anything good....

Can a 5th gen 6-speed manual be installed in a 4th gen maxima?

I ask because my 98 GLE has been practically totaled, and I'm considering rebuilding it... but I'd like a manual. My buddy has a 97 SE manual, and he let me borrow it for the weekend... totally awesome compared to auto trans, but on the highway, it revs a bit high for my taste (needs another gear).

I don't think that help would be an issue, but I need to know if anyone has heard of this, seen this, done this??? What parts would I need, and anything else you can think of.

Also, could someone please refresh me on the link to the dude with all the nice pics and instructions for the 5-speed conversion?

Thanks,
Seth

No the new 6-speed will not mate to our 3.0's. It uses a electronic drive by wire as ours doesn't. Your better off finding a 6-speed from a totally different car then the one from the New Max.

The 5-speed in the 4th gen is just fine for performance and I highly doubt a 6-speed would improve performance any.

Any thoughts on these other 6-speeds? I'm not looking for low-end performance, just better highway mileage, and a little less rev on the motor at a cruising 95.
