Damaged at the Dealer! (Long)
Damaged at the Dealer! (Long)
Well I brought my '02 back in for the third time for my wind noise around the sunroof as the Dealer was to have the sunroof glass replaced as that was supposedly going to fix my poor sealing glass. I dropped it overnight and they worked all day Friday on it and then ran out of time as I had the Transverse Recall performed too, so I picked it up Saturday afternoon right after a thunderstorm. I didn't look too closely, but the glass looked fine although there were a couple of spots of grease on the headliner, but I decided to be cool and take care of them myself. Come Sunday afternoon, I notice sun coming in through the seal they were supposed to fix, even worse than before. Now I'm a little ****ed. I take a look outside and notice stress cracks in the deflector. A little more ****ed. Then I take a look from the Driver's side and they seriously dented the roof!!!! Then I noticed the deflector was cracked in half!!!! Did you ever notice they are like a 1/4 inch thick!!! Very ****ed!!!
Anyway on Monday morning, after denying the Service Manager's expected excuses for they couldn't have done it...they called in a shop that heats the metal to help lift out the dents and it worked fairly well. They also put on a new deflector and readjusted the roof which is finally much better. Still, I park in the far corner of the lot wherever I go and the friggin dealer creases the roof at 3400 miles! I'm fairly satisfied that the roof is 95% of what is was, but I still feal a little robbed as the car was spotless before this incident.
Just some words of wisdom, that sometimes it's better to leave well enough alone than chase perfection. Thanks for letting me vent.
