help! corners don't work after fog rewire...

guys!!

Before i started the fog light rewire mod, i made sure i knew where the wires on the relay were connected to.

So basically what i did was i spliced the corner light (red/blue wire) and took the wire up to the relay box. Then instead of actually removing the whole relay box/coolant resevoir, i stuck that wire directly into the relay (gold connected) to where the fog lamp wire should be... and then i closed it up (it was a tight fit but it worked).

After putting the relays back on, i tested it out.. i turned on the parking lamps and the corner lights turned on for a second then turned off... which i'm guessing the fuse blew ? Well i was afraid the corner lights had all blown so i disconnected that wire i had conencted on the relay and touched the 12V battery w/ it and it they lit up fine. I'm thinking either the Fuse blew (i don't know which one it is because i don't have owner manual) or somehow the Corner Relay's dont work?? I think something happened to the relay because the corners still lit up when i connected em directly to the battery and also i don't hear and "click" sound of the relay when i try parking lights... I'm afraid to replace it w/ another relay that i have cuz i do'nt wanna somehow blow that out or something.... please help!!!!!!

What happens with mine is that only my low and high beams work and rear brake lights, but parking lights don't work, fog lights don't work and neither do rear lights. Also, you know what u said about the "ticking" sound with connecting to the relay, I heard that too at first, but I don't anymore when I connect to it. You think relax went out? If so, do I replace the bottom portion of the relay or the top part that comes off? Also, I switched the top part of the relay with other ones near by which are identical, but that didn't help. Thanks

My bet is you blew a fuse. Your corners would work when touched to the battery even with a blown fuse because you are bypassing the fuse hooking them direct. Check all of your fuses, the diagram is on the back of the fuse panel cover. If you don't have that, pull and look at each one to see if it's blown. Don't forget there are fuses under the hood near the battery, too. I'm not sure which one goes to them, but there is one under the dash labled tail lights, so check that one (BOSS, with your tails out, that's probably it).
You've most likely got a short somewhere that blew the fuse. Check that all connections are tight, and there is no exposed metal/wire anywhere. Wrap all connections in electrical tape or heat shrink. And double check that the wire isn't pinched where it is entering the relay panel.
Do you by chance have over-wattage corners and/or fog bulbs? If so, they may be drawing too much power with all combined for whatever fuse is currently in there. But I wouldn't just arbitrarily go changing to a higher amp fuse without checking everything first.

hey nadir... your corner fuses are located under your dash. it's t.tail, 7.5 amps i believe.

in addition, i wouldn't use the 97-99 corner rewiring instructions. i see you have a 96, but i don't know if you changed your corner lights while you did ur 97+ front-end convertion. anywayZ use the 95-96 rewired corner light mod. it's so much easier... here is the instruction on vqpower.com >> http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...howpage&pid=50

good luck!

Dave
i have a testimony on that actually. i did my rewiring corner light with apc superwhite, but for some reason my fuse kept blowing. so i went from 7.5amps to 15, then eventually i end up with 30amps and ran like that for couple weeks. later i post about it on the org and they said it'll melt my harness evnetually, which is VERY bad. therefore i took out the apc and change to raybrigs. i did a more articulate electrical work around the upper nut i cut according to the 95-96 rewired corner light instruction. and it ran fine ever since with a 7.5amps in my t.tail.

so yea, DO NOT change your amps to higher amp! eventually u'll melt your harness and it'll cost you BIG!

hehe thanks for the advice... actually i figured all that out myself... even did the rewiring w/o any directions because for the 95/96 it was different. I did this mod 1 year ago... old thread

I just wanted to thank everyone one more time. I feel like a complete idiot...went outside today and it took me exactly 10 seconds to locate the problem. Well, it was the tail lamp fuse under the dash! Thanks for wasting your time guys on a complete fool like me!
