Is this a good deal for a 95 Maxima?

My dad and I went car shopping again today... unfortuately not for me, but thats besides the point. He is looking for a under $7000ish used Toyota/Honda/Nissan sedan.... basically - Accord, Camry, Maxima.

We've checked out a few camrys earlier in the week and they were okay, for the price range all we really could find were 80,000-100,000 milage basic models. Then today, in the paper I found a 95 Maxima GLE.

Here are the specs off the top of my head:

95 Nissan Maxima GLE
61,000 miles
Power locks, seats, windows, etc etc
Tan Leather Seats
Tan interior
Gold exterior
Power sun roof
Bose sound system with cd and tape
Automatic trans
6 Cylinder, V6

I think thats basically it.... its a private owner, he's asking $7500. I think its a pretty good deal, ideally we could talk him down to atleast $7000... we'll see. We're gonna get it checked out tomorrow by the shop. We took it for a test drive today, very responsive... engine was running well. He is the 2nd owner, bought it with only 6,000 miles on and has been driving it for 6 years now.

So over all... does it sound like a good deal? Any things to look for specifically in the car? Are there any known problems for this generation of Maximas?

Thanks a lot... any suggestions are welcome.

OMG,
I think that this is a great deal for that kind of car, two owner, with that kind of miles. GXE's with 100+ are actually still kind of hard to come by for that kind of money. I would jump ALL over that!

Way more car than the accord or camry.

I'd run a carfax history on it just to make sure about the history of the car, and if you can, have an independent mechanic do a routine inspection on it. Why'd the first owner sell it after 6,000 miles?

As far as known problems, just take a look at the common maintenence items if you can't get an inspection done. Ask him for service history records if possible. If the car is in good shape I'd say that's a pretty good price.

stop that... you are making the average maxima owner sound dumb when you post such nonsense

the maxima is a good deal if it is in good shape.

i just stated my opinion on those cars based on my experiences with them and/or friends' cars. I also like praising Maximas, because this is a Maxima board

by the same token praising Maximas may be unnecessary, as this is a Maxima board.
