I bought my first ever car - 1997 Maxima GXE

A little background on me. I am 22 turning 23 this summer, and have never owned my own vehicle. Well I bought one today. It is as follows:

1997 Maxima GXE
Rosewood
Grey Cloth
Auto
Power everything
Conv. Package
80,000 Kilometers
No ABS

I saw the couple that traded this car in for a new Altima. I swear to god they must have been about 65-70. The car feels so tight, as if its never been above 4500rpm. The interior is in perfect shape and the backseat for all I know was probably rarely used (they had no children). I also looked at a 98 SE that was loaded, but it had 100,000k on it, didn't feel anywhere near as tight, and was about 20 grand. Plus I am very tall (6'6-6'7ish) and the sunroof was mildly bothersome.

I paid $14,500 CAN.

I am really glad to be back in the Maxima family. My father had a 92' GXE, and I remember whenever I got to drive that car it was a very special day for me. What a treat.

Why would he need mods? People only mod cars when they aren't happy with the stock one. And by the looks of it, he is happy with his (as he should be)...

Sweet car bro, the Maxima is definitely a good choice and you will get your hard-earned money's worth. If you need anything just HOLLA (or you could Private Message me).

Oh, well believe me, I do plan on mods. Definetly new tires/wheels, anything that will make it handle even better. Maybe some horsepower swag, make the engine breath a bit better. I'd like to maybe put on the Carbon Altezza tail lights. I'd like to make the sound a bit better and deeper, but I want to keep the Bose Head unit cause it gives the car a real classy, clean finish.

I think however I may save all this stuff for next spring, except for perhaps some sound upgrades.

WHY?!?!?! (I've got everything else you listed so those are all fine by why the altezzas? - They're BUTT ugly! And that's not personal taste, that's a fact!)

You'll probably notice by my wording that I'm not exactly commited to this idea. Problem with the car is that the back end is very boring.

Shave it, red/clear, spoiler, exhaust and you're set!

Yeah man anything but the Altezzas!! No! Just clear them out or shave the rear or add a Spoiler if you don't like the way it looks now. (I love it) Just don't do those damned lights. Other than that, looks like you scored yourself a good car, congrats.

Re: I bought my first ever car - 1997 Maxima GXE

Hey Big Kyle!

Congratulations on your first car! I did the same thing last year, and I was turning 22-23 as well (and I never owned any car before).

The funny thing was, my car (at that time) had the same spec too, 97 GXE, Auto, no ABS and 79000 miles (well, km and mi is not the same, but the figures are close!).

Enjoy modding your car (I know I did, and the forum members are very persuasive in that department ..hehhehe..
