I can't see the radio buttons on my 92 GXE at night. Are they supposed to be illuminated?

dunno. did you try and bang the top of the dash to see if something got jiggled the wrong way?

Yes they are supposed to be illuminated. Small bulbs for the various switches (R Defog, Hazard, Transmission mode selector, vent control, etc..) started going out about 4 years ago on my car. I found out that they were serviceable, so I went to Radio Shack and got replacement bulbs.

The radio is probably the same (serviceable bulbs). However, since I wanted a CD-player, I just got a new stereo (maybe that's overkill for your needs).

 

My buttons light up when the radio is off, but then turn off when I turn the radio off. I had always thought that it was some switch flaw because the bulb seemed to work.
