Scratches on RIM! WHAT DO I DO?

Hey Guys.
I need some suggestions from all you experts out there. I just bought new Konig Verdicts and on one of the rims, there are some scratches on the spoke. What can I take them out with?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!!

THANKS.

e-mail him. steve@whalentire.com He seems fairly nice, although he forgot to get back to me on my last e-mail. He did resolve my missing rivet situation fairly quickly.......

Tell him they came like that.......

No dude. It's a clearcoat. If it were straight metal- yes. I just spent the past month repainting wheels, so I can assure you that there is nothing you can do. Call Steve tomorrow. How bad are they anyhow?

If the scratches aren't too deep you can try some #2 Meguiar's Polish (use a damp cloth while working the scratches). It may be just enough to hide them. I would try that first.

this is what steve sent me:
The problem is that the wheel and tire has been mounted on the vehicle. We include a paper in the wheels that says you need to inspect them before they are put on the vehicle. If it was damaged in shipping then we needed to know before they were installed on the car. The caps are not broken but we will get you two new ones. Also there is nothing wrong with the tire that you have now driven on so there would definately be no way we could send out a new tire.

WHAT DO I DO NOW???

Dude....That sucks. How bad are the scratches? Did it happen in shipping or while they were mounting the tires?

It looks like you're gonna have to pay to get them fixed. Which from my experience, cost me around $125/wheel MINIMUM. I had one place tell me it would cost $190. Yeah....right.

yes the damage happened during shipping. I looked at all the rims, and all of them have these really fine scratches.

Well you probably should've checked the rims before you put them on! But since it's after the fact now, see if they are willing to do this:

They:
-ship you a new rim only

You:
-pay for the s/h
-get the tire mounted on the new rim
-send the damaged rim back and pay for the s/h

Seems like it would be cheaper than getting it fixed.

Have you carefully read through their terms/conditions yet? Sounds like from what he was saying, if you mounted the rim, you accepted it. So at this point, if they will give you a new rim at no extra cost to you (besides s/h) that would probably be pretty reasonable.

I didn't gather that they were going to replace the wheel from Steve's e-mail. Are they?

It really isn't Whalen Tire's fault if it got damaged during shipping. I learned my lesson with my dented FeEx wheel. Always FULLY inspect each wheel upon receiving them. They look really good on your car though.

Did Whalen Tire mount the tires for you?

I was just sayin

with the email he posted, Steve mentioned they wouldn't send a new tire. So I was just thinking (wishfully maybe) that they would be willing to send him a new wheel? I dunno...sux to be in that situation I know how it is.

if it says to inspect them before they are ont eh vehicle for damage and you didjn't and they have damage then they can't be held liable. it's not their fault for not noticing them as they could have happened during shipping.

it is kinda hard to notice scratches on a rim when u first open the box because they were a little dirty and dusty after the tire mounting. After i put them on the car and waxed them, i noticed the scratches. I only wanted steve to send me 1 wheel eventhough all of them are scratched, but 1 is pretty bad.
