"Tinting Spray" Can it tint Rims?

I was thinking of using the tinting spray that some use on clear corners or clear tails to tint a set of rims a darker grey. How is it applied, and will it work to darken a set of silver-finished rims?

WHy is this such a strange idea? People buy "gunmetal" rims all of the time, why not dark grey rims? I had dark grey rims on my cherokee, they look good in my opinion. I think chrome looks silly, but i don't belittle chrome rims. I was merely asking whether the tinting spray would darken the rims, or whether i would have to get them painted. I have never USED the tinting spray, so I just wondered if it was an option.

Thanks for all of the SUPPORT...

Anyone want to actually try to answer the question...?

The tint spray won't last a week with the heat and brake dust.

First off, if you can get a perfect coat let alone a good coat on your wheel, you are a god. Tint spray runs and drips so easily, even on a prepped surface. I redid my all my lights MULTIPLE times because of runs and they still arnt a very smooth finish with my best results. Secondly, the tint is durable in a sense that it will not chip, but it scratches like crazy. If I have dust on my lenses and I rub my hand across them, it creates scratch marks, after having them on for over a month. Its also almost impossible to do it without having any dust speckles in the finish...while its drying, it seems like it attracts particles flying in the air.
Why dont you just get them refinished with a proper, darker silver paint?

Thak you for the last two replies. I was looking for information such as this. Not just a "bad idea" message, but a "WHY" it was a bad idea post. Knowing a little more about the tinting spray and why it will not work makes a lot more sense. I will probably just get them sprayed darker, as soon as I get the money, but i wanted to knwo if the tinting spray might work. Clearly, it will not. It was just a thought. Thanks for all of the input, even if it was not on point at first...

Geez, I cant believe how rude some people on this board are. He asked a simple question. Do you sit here and cry about it? If you have any knowledge at all why not just answer the question and move on instead wasting a post like, "on my gosh!" or "I can't believe you'd do that!" How does the thread starter benifit from your post???....wait, he DOESN'T. I highly doubt "phenryiv1" really cares what YOU THINK about it, just share knowledge and valueable information...and THEN it would be ok to state your opinion.

P.S- I LOVE those shift *****..phenryiv1, bad come back

I really cannot believe some of you guys. I asked a simple question, I got smart @$$ answers. I mean, come on: "I nearly crap my pants?" How about you nearly crapPED your pants? At least get the grammer right...

If I KNEW the answer to the question that I was asking, I would not have asked the question. I was ASKING if the tinting spray would work. It was a THOUGHT, I was CONSIDERING it. If it worked, great, if not, I would go on to the next idea. You guys are just pompus @$$e$ who have nothing better to do than rag on me for asking an honest question.

Damn it, if you don't have anything to say about the F-ing thread, stay the F- out of it!!!!!

ILoveMyMax, Ravq, AdMax98, carnal_c30, bmxsteve- Thanks for the positive replies. I appreciate your honest and intelligent opinions.

NotNew!!NewSN!!- Learn to read. I ASKED if it would work. I am not "tryin to tint rims." I was merely inquiring as to whether or not it could be an option to darken the rims.

ny96max, Mad Dhan- Just stay the F- out if you are going to be dimwits.
